When we last checked his cage, he was snarling and eating the hindquarter of beef we feed him every 3 days, so he must be feeling better. Seriously, Preston is a very tough kid who will never sit out if its possible to do his job. Remember, we played 3 quarters without him at Central, so they have other horses to plug in. But to answer your question he has a pulse and that is about all it takes for him to play.

Geaux Bears. Glad to see them back in the mix.

Regarding hosting semi's, where was Acadian/CHS from a few years ago?

Guy Lecompte is a great guy, he taught me at Archbishop Hannan in Meraux back in the 90's. He was a backup running back at LSU behind Harvey Williams then transferred to north texas to get pt. He left Hannan to go back to managing Copelands in Baton Rouge for the 2nd time. Used to hook me and my dates up with food when I was a . freshmen at LSU. He is a great all around guy, glad to see him having success

Yes but Evangel was just making its name then. It had moved up to play 5A. Not many people realized what it would become.

Bandits....I'm curious as to what your perspective is on this. We're you a student at the time?

Most folks who followed high school football at the time were very familiar with ECA at that point.

I'm not flaming on you.

Another interesting tidbit: this was advertised as the first statewide live high school game in Louisiana. Sushi may be able to verify

i was at the CHS v Evangel game in 99. it was a great atmosphere for HS FB and CHS hung tough for about a half. ECA had too many bullets.

I might have to check this out. Mandeville has a great play-making CB and some solid Dline and LBers. They lost a lot from last year though.

Negative on that...83 or 84 state championships were

and Shaw OPW played on National tv in the early 90s..

and everyone in HS football at the time in 99 was well aware of what evangel had become.. 60 game winning streaks tend to do that... coupled with the 27-20 win over Curtis in week 1.

Let's get those to youtube. Along with the great Evangel/WM battles and Evangel v. John Curtis.

No reason that stuff shouldn't be online. That was the best era of LA football .. and some of the best ever on a national level.

I just remember that not that many people on the Catholic side were that worried about the game.

Good stories in the Advocate on Catholic and Mandy in today's paper.

Anybody in this thread going to this game tonight?

I'm in Mandeville for the Thanksgiving break and I figure I may as well check it out.
