He's a RS Junior with the potential to be drafted somewhere or sign a UDFA deal and he won't start if he comes back so why is this a surprise?

The fact he could have had at worst been a 4th Rd pick off 3 games was reason enough to leave.
You had a NC, you were on hot streak against great teams, did unthinkable things as a 3rd string QB, and you decide to come back.
You can come back for your degree, should've took the money and ran. The more NFL teams have seen on and off the field, the less they've liked.

Or if he got his undergrad already, he could just transfer to another school (Houston with Herman?).

He would have been at worst a 2nd rounder if he left after last year and lots of mock drafts had him going in the 1st, now he won't even get drafted. What a dumbass.
