Easy for Barkley to say coming from Mt. Richmore.

"My bodyguard is black!" My god that is tone deaf.

Isn't that kind of the point though? It isn't a racial thing, it is a socioeconomic thing.

This seems to escape most people.

Barkley also said that he wasn't sure if chattel slavery was really that bad for black people.

quote:

“The only problem I had with Kenny’s, umm, open letter was, umm, I don’t think anytime something bad happens in the black community we have to talk about slavery. Listen, slavery is, uh, well, I shouldn’t say one of the worst things ever, because I don’t know anything about it other than what I read or what my grandmother told me.”

Where does he say that? I clicked the link but didn't see anything approaching that clickbait statement.

And he's kind of right. He doesn't know how bad it was outside of what is said. He never experienced it firsthand, he never was a slave. To use it as a crutch and refer to it for everything would be disingenuous to the people who did suffer from it.

Got denied something? Well my people went through slavery! It's kind of ludicrous

Looks like Barkley is going overboard to make up for his " That's why I hate White people" comment & spitting on the little girl courtside.

Well the ignorant Alabama hick should not comment on anything outside of his experiences, but that doesn't stop him from routinely giving his opinions on most things.

Frederick Douglass, Solomon Northup & the thousands of other slave narratives are available to Chuck.

I was home for lunch ans saw the TV-cast. Dan looked uncomfortable as hell.

I loved it. He wanted to play 'pile on Whitey' and Chuck wouldn't play.
