Which proves one of two things in my mind:

1. He had the mentality that he and his athlete were untouchable. Therefore he should have been fired because he was part of the culture that allowed those things to happen, regardless of whether it predated his tenure.

or

2. He was really clueless about what was going on in within his own program. That indicates that either he was kept in the dark by his own staff (likely as a means to insulate him at his own behest) or he chose to ignore everything non football going on around him. Either of those situations also means he should have been fired as well, IMO.

But that is just my take on it.

there are definitely coaches that do this. barry switzer was one of them. he approached college ball like the NFL. he contended he was not responsible for the players conduct; it was the schools and the polices job. he was a despicable person.

Will Art Briles wash up somewhere next season or is he just tainted forever?
I kinda jokingly think he'll end up at Auburn if the wheels fall off the Gus Bus. But am I being unfair to Auburn?
