Brady, Brees, and P. Manning

There was a thread last week about Eli Manning and his chances for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Some people have the opinion that because he has played in so few Pro Bowl and that he was never "one of the best" in the era he played, that this somehow hurts his candidacy.
Is Eli playing in the greatest era of quarterbacks ever? He has to be. Or is it?
It could be argued that Brady, Brees, and P. Manning are the 3 greatest quarterbacks of all-time, and their careers have almost completely overlapped.
Add to that the second half of Brett Favre's career, and the first half (or more) of Aaron Rodgers' career, and you could say Eli has played quarterback during an era completely filled with the all-time greats at the position, aside from Unitas, Marino, and Montana.
Are we currently in an era of all-time great QB's, or has the game changed so much that quarterback stats are approaching irrelevancy?

If Eli were consistently in the top 5, I would have no issue with his HOF candidacy. But he's not consistently in the top 5; he's rarely in the top 5.

He's already 8 or 9th in the history of the NFL for touchdown passes.
When he retires, he's going to be Top 5 in every quarterback statistic.
Are the statistics irrelevant? Is it the era he's playing in?

Brees? I love the guy, but top 3? Most saints fans wouldn't even agree with that.

Gee, I wonder why that is? Could it be that passing has gotten considerably easier to do in the NFL compared to the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s?

Eli is a lock for the hall of fame.

Mediocre-to-good stats over a long career.
On a yearly basis, he was rarely in the top 5. He was normally in the 10-25 range.

Players are getting better. This isn't the 60's anymore.
The athletes have evolved just as much as the game.

currently? I'd have to say no.
Peyton Manning is at the bitter end it appears.
Drew Brees is still good but not great.
Tom Brady continues to get it done though.
Aaron Rodgers is an elite QB but yet he's been off a bit this year.

I'm guessing you don't know any Saints fans.

He is in. Just enough stats and playing in New York will get him in.

He's accumulated stats and been good for a while, but rarely great.

Check out Drew's dome vs. outdoor's splits against other all-timers and get back to me.

Brees isn't top 3 ever, but I do believe you can say he's fringe top 10 with a good argument for him being top 10.

Statistically he's up there, but I agree that he's closer to being top 10

Can you just post it?
His playoff numbers are ridiculous. That should carry a lot of weight. Plus 4 5k yard seasons, highest career comp %
He's been fantastic for over a decade.

Somewhat of a monkey wrench in this, but what will Wilson's status be if he wins another SB and stays at the level he has attained for 7 more years.
at least 2 SB wins, 3 total SB, 3,500-4,000 yds per year. 3:1 TD/Int ratio. Career Pass Rating of over 100.

I did not include any retracted roof numbers, as I have no idea if they mean the roof was actually retracted or not.
