pretty sure Bryant wanted black players at A&M and the admins/SWCs refusal to let them in was part of why he left.

Pretty sure that is not true.

You just kind of live in your own little world and believe what you want to believe.

Yeah, all those people who tried to keep those 9 black kids out of Central High in Little Rock sure did.

That's the most ridiculous thing posted on this thread for a number of reasons.

1) As I stated earlier, Bryant didn't want get mixed up in politics which is why he didn't push the issue sooner.

2) If he was that vehemently opposed to segregration, why would he leave Texas A&M to go to another segregated school?

3) He left Texas A&M in 1957 and didn't sign Wilbur Jackson until 1970.

You really need to read some more history books. There was no such thing as federal Jim Crow laws. These laws all came from state and local governments, and the Supreme Court declared these laws unconstitutional with its "Brown vs Board of Education" decision. Are you familiar with the 14th Amendment?

Troops were never called to integrate sports.

But don't you understand that if the school wasn't integrated, their sports teams couldn't be integrated? Federal troops made it possible to integrate a school's teams.
