After Trevor Ariza recently said Dwight Howard is more athletic than ever, Houston Rockets legend and player development specialist Hakeem Olajuwon has added even more fuel to optimism about Howard’s game. Citing improved health and a new work ethic, Olajuwon thinks that the player formerly known as Superman will have an MVP-caliber season in 2014-2015.

LINK Great to hear that Dwight appears to be in his best shape in years. Btw I recommend following Dime Mag on twitter, facebook, etc. they're a good follow imo.

Sorry for your disappointment.

Dwight Howard will never win an NBA championship.

I think Dwight Howard is even more healthy and in better shape this year than he's been in years... however...

There are a ton of stories written every year before the season starts for a bunch of different players about how amazing they are going to do during the season because they are so much better or in such good shape.

Sometimes it's true, and sometimes it's just preseason talk.

We'll see.

D12 will always be a glorified Marcus Camby/Ben Wallace.

I'm the devil - if ever there was such a thing
The results of much too many drugs what you're seeing
I'm a mindfrick, completely dis-(gus)-ting
I'm (white), a human mutt, frick a being
I'm a dog - frick lambs, I'm silencin 'em all
I'm involved in murders forensic science couldn't solve
Giant set of balls too big to buy a set of drawers
Might as well unzip my fly and let 'em fall to the floor
Each thought's completely warped
I'm like a walkin, talkin, ouija board
Speakin in tongues, I've never spoke this speech before

How the hell you gonna be a Craig Biggio fan but not a Rockets fan? They go hand in hand.

not sure how Dwight could get in much better shape. He's already a freak as it is and has very very low body fat %.

It's not like he was carrying around a beer gut last year from too many trips to St Arnolds.

just sayin.

Being in shape isn't just about looking good. It's about function.

A lot of people look to be in great shape but aren't in shape to play sports.

Dwight had weakness in stabilization muscles due to his back injury. He also had imbalances, tightness, etc. I don't know what all he was dealing with.

But he wasn't able to squat down and move under a hurdle. He physically couldn't do it.

They've been working with him the past two off-seasons. I remember last year when the Rockets traded for him, the strength and conditioning staff said his hamstrings were very weak and he was not in good shape from a functional stand-point.

They worked with him last off-season and he improved a lot, but he was still not 100% last year.

After this off-season, they are basically saying he's better than he's been in years. He said he feels better than he has in years.

So we'll see if that translates to the basketball court.

dwight looked great in the playoffs last year. hopefully its a continuation of that, run the offense through D12, let him dominate. D12 has always been pretty average offensively, but theres not many players in the association who can check him.
