Wow. I kind of shrugged when New York brought Collins in, but they are playing good baseball this year that is for sure.

He wasn't bad with the Angels, I think he was at .500 or under during his tenure. However, he wore on his players and I think he has learned from it and become a better manager

Ventura is terrible. You could see most of his arsenal in Friday's game. He refuses to pulL one pitch Samardzija before the seventh ( or basically any starter) and proceeds to watch the tying and lead homers get over the wall. Then he bunts in the eighth when behind in the game. The team is poor fundamentally - bad baserunning, they don't back up plays, routinely miss the cut-off man.
Ventura had been completely out of baseball for a decade before he was pulled into the managers job. He never sat on the bench, he never coached and he never managed a minor league team before then.

Brad's taken a below average bullpen, and taken them to a belower average than that. It does appear, however, that Al Avila, new GM, has Brad doing some different things these days (shifting, batting order, reliever setup, etc...)

AROD was magical in that post season... wasn't he?

Plus a few of these managers have rings, someone mentioned Melvin and that is a good choice. He always has a team picked to finish middle of the pack or near the bottom and has them competing.
