Love him or Hate him, its gotta be Coach K.

If I had a son who was one of the top recruits in America, and had offeres from all of the big name schools I would want him to play under Coach K.

if your son had any kind of pro potential, you wouldn't send him to Duke

If Coach K is such a great coach then why do his loaded teams consistently underachieve in the tourney year after year? One sure thing in my bracket every year is that I pick a Duke upset and they never let me down.

no program is consistantly good like duke

thatd work if kansas didn't have the longest active streak of consecutive ncaa tourney appearances (assuming arizona doesn't make it this year).

kansas and duke are the epitome of consistency

Duke has more pros in the NBA than any other school, and their players get paid more than any other school's players.

Id rather send him to Duke than that slimeball Calipari up in Kentucky.

I really dont see why people HATE coach K, he is a winner, graduates kids, runs a clean program, and has superstars from his Re-Deem team (Kobe, lebron, D-Wade) who have nothing but admoration for the man. He is a West Point graduate and a good Christian man. What more would a father want in a prospective college coach for his son????

Ohh yeah hes been to 10 Final 4's and won 3 National Championships and a Gold medal.

Well, first because the NCAA is a one-off tournament so upsets are much easier than in the playoffs of the NBA, NHL, or MLB.

Second, 1986-87 to 2004-05, a 19-year sample, his teams made 10 Final Fours, 7 championship games, and won 3 titles. The past 5 years haven't been as good with 3 Sweet 16s, a second round appearance, and the VCU upset. However, every program has down years. Jim Boeheim has done worse in the past 5 years yet no one talks about Syracuse's "slump" (two Sweet 16s in 5 years, just 3 NCAA bids).

ETA: The huge disappointment of the 2005 freshman class certainly weighed down on the program the past few years. However, when you look at the 5 "down years", the team's records are still 27-6, 32-4, 22-11 (on a team with one upperclassmen, for those who think UNC is young this year), 28-6, 30-7, with two ACC titles. Any program other than Kansas would take that for a down period.

i usually side with duke due to my family in durham and my aunt is a physical therapist at the duke sports medicine place who works with some of the basketball players. i also asked my little cousin recently where she wanted to go to school, i said "unc?" and she looked up at me and said "i hate unc." therefore, go duke. miles plumley FTW

You're VERY misinformed.

It's not 1998 any more.
