I can't have a guy who only played half the decade over a guy who hit .300 8 times in those 10 years and over .290 all 10. Jeter is also a great fielder and also a leader on a team full of superstars I feel like you may need it

I know the advanced stats disagree but he has 5 gold gloves. I know GGs are just given out sometimes, so I won't say he's the best fielder of all time.

I guess I just can't get over how big of a leader he is, and he makes clutch plays when he needs to

Good shout.

But the 80's lineup would be big underdogs in this hypo tournament.

I'd want Lasorda in that case.

'88 Dodgers (maybe the weakest WS lineup ever) against the Bash Bros.

2000 Manager USA Gold Medal - Olympics beating heavily favored Cuba.

Lasorda is the motivator - has the underdog midas touch.

The 50's is getting over looked
1950's
quote:

Manager: Casey Stengel
C - Yogi Berra
1B - Stan Musial
2B - Nellie Fox
SS - Ernie Banks
3B - Eddie Matthews
OF - Ted Williams
OF - Duke Snider
OF - Mickey Mantle
SP - Warren Spahn
SP - Robin Roberts
SP - Whitey Ford
SP - Bob Feller

They are every bit as stacked as the 90's

Plus, they don't need relief pitchers

Yeah I'd prob go with the 50s. There's a freaking song about 2/3 of the outfield. And the other outfielder is the greatest hitter of all time.

60's and I don't think it's really all that close. You could easily add Mantle, Mathews, Rose into this decade

Lineup

2B Pete Rose
CF Willie Mays
RF Hank Aaron
1B Willie McCovey
DH Mickey Mantle
LF Frank Robinson
3B Harmon Killebrew
SS Ernie Banks
C Joe Torre

Bench options
Brooks Robinson, Maury Wills, Eddie Mathews, Ron Santo, Vada Pinson, Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda, Tom Haller, Dick Allen, Ken Boyer, Lou Brock, Norm Cash, Billy Williams, Al Kaline, Tony Oliva, Yaz, etc.

Offense is scary good

Pitching
Gibson
Koufax
Drysdale
Marichal

Might not even need a bullpen with those 4. But, you could have Perranoski, Bunning, Kaat, Jim Maloney, Sam McDowell, etc.

Team has tons of power, tons of speed, and I think the two best SP's to ever play the game in Gibson and Koufax. Ridiculous

yea, if you move some of those 50's guys to the 60s team, that would be the team that would compete with the 90s. Truly the Golden Age of baseball.

Man, I keep coming back to that 60's team with Gibson and Kaufax. Those 2 guys could win 4 games in a best of 7. In addition, Juan Marichel had 6 20 game seasons in the 60's. Plus they have some freaking sticks in the lineup too.

McCovey
Robinson
Aaron
Clemente
Mays

The 60's would be built for a 7 game series.

Then you don't love Glavine. Did you not see him in the playoffs of the 90s?

Do they also get the 15 inches of a mound in this hypo?

60's was to pitching what the Steroid Era was to homeruns.

After the 60's, mound was lowered to try to help return hitting to baseball...Highlighted by the excellence of Denny McLain, who won 31 games for the Tigers, and also by Bob Gibson of the Cardinals, who pitched 13 shutouts and an ERA of 1.12. MLB’s top hitter, Carl Yastrzemski, batted .301 - the lowest batting champ in MLB history. During the 1968 season, over one-fifth of all MLB games were shutouts.

The rule was officially changed in 1969 from 15 inches to 10 inches.

At 15 inches, pitchers were told to “stand tall and fall.” With the change to 10 inches, it became “drop and drive.” The pitchers would drop down and push off from their right or left leg.

Would be even better if you replace Duke Snider with Willie Mays(won ROY in '51) 6 of your 8 everday starters have multiple MVPS
Jackie Robinson
Willie Mays
Ted Williams
Mickey Mantle
Stan Musial
Ernie Banks
Eddie Matthews
Yogi Berra

I'd like to watch just to see Bonds* walk up to the plate with all that body armor and lean over the plate against Gibson

I would take the All-'60s team. They're STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEED.

Good point. Plus the older teams would have a HUGE home field advantage. All of those '90s sluggers would have to watch Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente run down long fly balls that would never stay in a modern stadium.

It would also be fun to see a few 9-3 groundouts. Clemente was the master of that.

No juice, I'll take the 1950's team. This is assuming somehow that all these players were born around the same time such that clean training was up to modern standards.

How good would Feller or Mantle or Musial have been with all of the modern knowledge regarding working out and medical care?

This thread makes me want to buy an Xbox or Playstation, create these teams on MLB or The Show, and watch the games.

I would swap

Sosa for Juan Gonzales
I would also consider Pudge over Piazza
