Lets JUST assume LSU wins out we will have wins on more ranked teams than anyone int the country with out a doubt. Even WV is climbing back in. I'm certain that LSU would rocket to #2. Our stregnth of schedule will save us....IF.....we win out. The best thing about where we are is that LSU controls their destiny.

you may end up with 4 undefeated teams at the most. I think the Big 12 champ will likely be undefeated.
I think Oregon has a good chance and Boise and TCU will definitely win out.
I think the SEC champ will have 1 loss and maybe even 2.

so when the 2 loss sec champ dominates one of these undefeated's in the bcs games and were stuck watching oregon and nebraska duking it out for the title... what changes after everyone realizes it should have been the 2 loss sec team in the game?
nothing.
nothing.

There is still a lot of season left. It will work its way out.
I think the point is that he doesn't want it to work out. He wants the worst possible matchup between BSU and TCU. He wants two teams playing that he knows wouldn't beat 'Bama, OSU, Oregon, etc... If we end up with a championship game that the majority of fans think is bogus, the pressure will be ratcheted up for a playoff system.
I would like a 16 team playoff. The reason? I think the current system discourages strong teams from lining up other strong teams of OOC matchups.

Every year mid-season we talk about multiple BCS undefeated teams and every year we end up talking about 1 loss teams. Even last year there were only 2 legit BCS undefeated teams.
It all looks possible on paper until Oregon loses their QB and loses 4 of their last 5 and Ohio State lays an egg against Indiana or something.

You know then again remember 07'. West Virginia falling to PITT, OU falling right at the end. You almost have to assume that there will be some huge improbable upsets that will open more doors. Anything can happen. First of all LSU needs to atleast get to Atlanta

we all watch every game under the bcs system. if there is a playoff, the regular season will be less exciting.
the problem is you can play baseball or basketball game every other day. football takes a week between games. unlike nfl we have over 100 teams, so any playoff system will be flawed and truncated.
if a playoff comes many people are going to be surprised at how much they miss the bcs system.

Again, it isn't unprecedented. In 2004 you had three undefeated teams, including two from major conferences, and four one-loss teams after all of the bowls were finished.
At that time, while there was some concern about an undefeated SEC team getting left out, the sports talking heads weren't as up in arms because they were happy that USC had made it into the Championship game after the percieved snub by the BCS formula in 2003 that put LSU in the title game over the Trojans. This year, a similar situation would be stickier because:
a.) Boise and the MWC teams have more respect than they did in 2004
b.) There will be some sentiment by many voters to break up the SEC dominance and get a Pac 10 / Big 10 match up
c.) Other voters will be inclined to vote a one-loss SEC team in over one or more of the unbeatens
d.) The computers could play a larger part in deciding the final two if the first and second place votes from the human polls are spread out over 4 or more teams.
BTW, Add Utah to the mix; they're undefeated as well, which means that you have two teams who have the opportunity to go undefeated in the MWC (although no more thn one could finish unbeaten.)

If we go undefeated there is no question that we go to the championship game. No voter can say LSU hasnt earned it.

This. Win out. Control our destiny.
No one will skip an undefeated LSU after winning the SECCG.

Why would this be a "BCS Train Wreck" because there are 7 undefeated teams? The whole idea of creating the BCS system was to take multiple human and computer polls that also considered factors like strength of schedule to create an algorithm that clearly quantified who the top 2 teams were when there were multiple undefeated teams....and as LSU fans no full well, you don't even have to be an undefeated team to be considered one of the top 2 teams.

The point is that we've seen lots of controversy and debate when there were only three teams with a legitimate claim to be in the game. Hell, the formula was gerry-rigged to try to make the computers less relevant after the 2003 season.
As for LSU, there's no way that they are left out of the BCSCG if they are undefeated.

As much as I would love this sort of drama at the end of the season, I don't see it happening. Last week I doubt LSU would have been on this list because I don't think a lot of people honestly expected them to be able to compete with teams like Bama down the stretch due to terrible offensive production. Also last week Bama may have been at the top of your list because they looked unbeatable.
Things change way too fast and unpredictably to be able to know at this point in the season who will come out undefeated.

It will be much clearer at week 9. There will likely be only 4 or 5 unbeatens. "Unbeatens" haven't been much of a problem for the BCS (2004 USC/Texas/Auburn notwithstanding), it's having about 11 one-loss teams that will really pee in gumbo, so to speak.

One thing for sure, if there are 3 or more undefeated teams, someone is going to cry foul and want a playoff. There is nor will be a perfect system. Let's hope the Tigers win out!

I wanna see Boise v lsu in the title game. Our thug nasty defense would shut them up and hopefully stop people from voting for them next year.
