The Ohio fans are scrappy today. The Browns loss must've done them in.

ok, fine. It doesn't mean they're not capable of breaking thru eventually. Just look at your program and how much shite you were getting from SEC fans, up until last years playoff game.

FSU last year was pretty good. They had guys like Eddie Goldman and Mario Edwards along the dline.

When they were good, it was beautiful to watch. The 3rd quarter of that game was unfrickingreal.

FSU lost the game because their offense was running on fumes for 2 months and the first moment in his entire college career Jameis Winston felt the pressure of a double-digit deficit, he folded like a Dollar General card table.

That whole playoff was weird. Everybody knew FSU was a fraud but then when Oregon beat them and Alabama lost, that the game against Ohio State was supposed to be a coronation.

Ohio State has proven in the past decade they deserve to be there aside from two bad performances in 2006 and 2007.

They have the most BCS/CFP wins of all time.

Oregon has won 4 of those games, Ohio State has won 8.

I think eventually Oregon will get over the hump if they can sustain success with Helfrich (who I think is a great coach and a great guy). If they bounce back from this disappointing season, they will eventually win the big one.

Baylor has not proven anything ever.

I don't know that that's the crux of the argument here.

The argument here is that the voters fall in love EVERY SINGLE YEAR with the dynamic offense that can score 50 at will on questionable competition. They always either get a head start on everybody else by starting artificially high in the rankings, or get to leap-frog a bunch of teams every time they score 60 on an average opponent. And in the case of Oregon several times, even after they lose a game, the voters got selective amnesia and rocketed them back up the polls after they start scoring 60 again because "they're playing the best football right now."

And the thing is--no team running this offense has won a national championship. EVER. It makes no sense. Will a team like this break through and run the table on year and win it all? Sure. It can happen. But until it happens, voters need to stop being impressed by the bright shiny objects. This is why computers need to be a significant part of the persuasion. Because humans are stupid.

baylor has won the Big12 2 years in a row and had 1 loss last year in the regular season

don't act like they're some new team coming out of nowhere. that would be utah

OU won a title running a spread way back in 2000

also if you mean oregon, plenty have won it the past 10 years

bullshite. They proved that one of the worst automatic qualifiers this side of UConn, a team that struggled in the backend of their schedule in a god-awful conference, a team that needed a miracle to beat Temple, can roll them in a BCS game.

And that they can amass seemingly insurmountable 3rd quarter leads in the 3rd quarter of Cotton Bowls with their unstoppable offense!

I don't remember exactly, but wasn't FSU down two scores to SEC SEC SEC Auburn in the title game and came back and won?

I'd say since the Joey Harrington era Oregon has been at the top or near it in CFB. Sure their style of offense has struggled vs the cream of the crop but they've won more than their share of games. Two title games since 2010 is pretty good. 2013 Oregon was the 2nd best team in the nation IMO.

Oklahoma ran the Leach/ Briles version of the Air Raid in 2000.

Auburn and Ohio State won national titles using very very similar offenses to Oregons.

Hell the most hilarious irony of this thread is that Meyer went to Oregon and was tutored by Helfrich on the Oregon spread befire last season! That was a big talking point during the national title game.

And OSU fans in this thread are talking shite about that offense?

Their offense is flashy against inferior opponents. Anybody with a good defensive line will beat them 9/10 times.

And they shite the bed two years in a row in bowl games against inferior competition? And Michigan State at that? They lost to them with a 20-point lead in a glorified home game Cotton Bowl last year, and now the voters have given them Michigan State's spot at the beginning of the year and dumped Michigan State because somehow now "they've changed," and Michigan State is some decent but not great Big Ten team that only gets lucky and doesn't dominate opponents? Because unimpressive Big Ten champions who struggle with inferior opponents and don't pass the eye test never win national championships anymore!

OU won that championship game with defense. Maybe the most dominant defensive performance on a Heisman Trophy Winner ever. The game was 6-0 in the fourth quarter. When Oregon or Baylor win ANY game on defense or pitch a shutout minus a safety against the best offense in America, I'll be sold.

We don't run Oregon or Baylor offense. We spread the field to run, they spread the field to pass. Do you even watch football?

Oregon runs the ball a shite ton...when mariota was a junior they passed a bit more but that's b/c he was a stud

the UO offense at its core is a spread option rushing attack

I still believe that 07 Oregon would've won it all had Dixon not blown his knee out.

Explains why we have so many 5+ seasons then...

Can you guys back up your statements at least?

We lost to the best team last season. The year before the team did look flat. 2012 our only loss came from an unbelievable game from Hogan's Trees. 2011 we lost to LSU and they would've rolled every team not named Bama that season. I didn't realize we lost to so many scrubs.
