Lol

AA just fricking with us at this point. Had everyone thinking it was Shewmake or Grissom.

Braves very rarely break camp with their best 26 under AA. All about depth and guys who have options available are not going to break camp with this club unless they’re a no doubt every day starter or a vet on a fully guaranteed deal.

I get it and it has worked out but no surprise we usually start very slow.

We botched this so bad.

Like what is even the point of sending both Grissom and Shewmake to Gwinnett, unless we've completely given up on the idea of Grissom being a SS. I still would've kept him as the utility guy/bench bat over Adrianza.

Grissom is playing SS every day at Gwinnett and Shewmake is playing 2B.

They’re not going to have any semi-legit prospect on the major league bench in April. Contreras was sent down last year in April for the same reason. If neither Grissom/Shewmake were going to be the every day guy then you have to send them down to play every day.

Surely we can trade for someone better than Adrianza to be the backup though.

Which is exactly why this was botched in thinking Grissom was ready to be an everyday SS.

Elvis Andrus for 1 year / $3M would have made a lot of sense. Maybe we offered him that and he just wanted to go back to the Sox / more of a guaranteed everyday role.

Seems like this decision was made because Adrianza doesn't have any options....which just can't be right lol

Has anyone watched him defensively this spring? His offensive numbers look pretty good

Yes. He looked very much like he did in Mississippi. Could make the play on the ball hit right to him and had a good arm. But he had zero range.

Some of y’all are just funny. The Braves are making the playoffs and the season is long. Who cares who is on the opening day rosters except for fantasy owners. I get it. Obviously, someone in charge decided it was best to have both young guys get everyday reps at AAA. That’s fine and doesn’t impact the major league club right now. The Braves are playing for October not April.

Grissom and Soroka and several others will be big parts of the team come August/September which is all that matters. But the best part is we are letting the Cubs pay big money for Dansby’s mediocre play.

Says the guy in the last thread who said Grissom would be the Braves opening day SS and that we weren't losing anything going from Dansby to Grissom.

What specifically do you trust about this move?

Arcia is worse than Dansby both in the field and at the plate by every metric and now he's our SS with Adrianza backing him up, while we don't even have Grissom's bat for the time being.

This reeks of AA thinking he could get away with playing Grissom at SS, only to realize what so many said on here said from day one, he's not ready. Meanwhile, he says Dansby wanted to come back for a hometown discount and we still let him walk.

He looks incredibly cheap.

I don't necessarily understand it either, at best it's curious. But AA has earned the trust of the fanbase even when he makes a curious roster decision like this.

This is harsh. The Cubs overpayed for Dansby, they can have him at that price. The Braves don't overpay. That is an organizational philosophy.

Maybe AA wanted Grissom to get everyday reps at short at Gwinnett w/o the pressure of doing it out of the gate w/the big club?

Again, AA said Dansby would've taken a hometown discount to stay.

They called this dude up straight from Double-A last year.

This move was made in part because they didn't want Adrianza to declare free agency, which is a wild sentence to type.

Not resigning Dansby wasn’t a mistake but not addressing SS in some manner was.
