Folty and gausman.

Ah gracias.

Speaking of Gausman, he did an interview with Mikie Mahtook on Mik'd Up a year ago and mentioned how one of the things that started his turnaround was copying Sean Newcomb's mechanics when he had that "phantom injury" towards the middle of 2019 and was sent down to extended spring training.

fricking wild that Newcomb played a roll in Gausman figuring shite out and becoming one of the better pitchers in baseball. Sucks that it didn't work out here.

In retort though now that I think about it, people said the same thing about Kyle Wright. The Braves didn't give up on him, so I think they will give Ian every chance.

Seems like a different issue though. Wright has always had nasty stuff but never had the confidence to throw it.

Ian can't throw strikes consistently and I believe either hitters have figured him out or his 2021 shoulder injury was more significant than we know.

Gausman becoming a legitimately good MLB starter is mesmerizing. He fricking sucked in Atlanta. That split change got hit 475 feet every time he threw it.

More believable that we would win a WS without Folty, Newcomb, Touki, and Soroka contributing / positively contributing post 2019.

be shocked if he's not traded at the deadline.

Ian has zero value right now, not sure what we would be trading him for exactly. Our best bet is to just leave him in AAA and have him work on a third pitch. If it works it works, if not we are out nothing.

Ian has zero value right now,

He's a pitcher in pre-arbitration that is less than 2 years removed from throwing 5+ innings of perfect baseball in the World Series.

He still has trade value.

Snit said Wright and Soroka are almost ready to make some starts. Wright threw 2 innings in a minor league exhibition and felt fine. Snit said Soroka has progressed well also.

I want to keep him so I can keep making Jethro Tull references when he pitches

Michael Soroka threw two innings of live batting practice on Friday, manager Brian Snitker said. It went well, and the progression should continue from here.

Shewmake has apparently passed up Arcia (although he is starting at SS today with Grissom DH'ing).

Between Shewmake and Grissom, it's good bat/mediocre glove versus bad bat/really good glove.

Snit on the SS battle: "We're going to take one of the two (Shewmake or Grissom) more than likely. We'll see who we leave with in a couple of weeks."
