Basically what TigerScribe said. Hated it at first since I also enjoyed growing up watching the Stros play the Cardinals, Cubs, and Braves. Our division has grown on me, and I like the DH so I'm fine with it now.

Hate it. I think pitchers should hit.

I agree with this 100%. I can get up, go to work or class, study, hit the gym, come home and watch the last 4-5 innings of the rangers games.

I can't imagine having to deal with all those 9 pm division games, hell most Cards games start at 7:15 and I wish like hell they started at 6:15

I promise I'm not as old as I sound

Hate it. Bud Selig did it to keepthe Brewers in the NL. Miss the Astros being in the NL. Interleague play helps to ease the pain.

Is there any logical reason that Milwaukee, an original AL team, didn't move back?

in reality, Milwaukee was a NL city to start, way back when with the Braves. The Brewers were in the AL because they were originally the Seattle Pilots, who moved to Mil after one season in Seattle (Pilots were the team mainly detailed in Jim Bouton's great book Ball Four)

So while I agree that Houston should not be in the West, the move the the AL wasn't all that bad. and I think Milwaukee is more of a NL city

Because they were the team best suited to go west, as natural mate for Rangers.
This has always been an issue. In the first division setup, Whitesox went west, losing affinity with top rivals NY, Cleveland and Detroit. Cubs somehow managed to go east, while 2 EDT teams- Braves and Reds- were sent West.
Other choices would have been putting KC-StL in west. Or Brewers with either Cubs or Whitesox.
Astros were easiest move.

In the same boat as a couple of other posters..hated it at first but have grown used to it. The thing I despise the most is that I miss out on the west coast night games since I live in NC and my fanhood started during the rainbow jersey era (read: too old to stay up that late). I miss the old (NL West) rivalries too but that doesn't stop me from still talking smack to my Reds fan buddies.

So because the Braves were there for ten years That negates thirty years of the Brewers? Is Boston a NL city because the Braves were in Boston a decade before the Red Sox. This logic was dumb when selig used it and is still dumb now

For the record
I like the DH I think having the pitcher hit is dumb and fans pay to see altuve correa and springer and 9/10 times of they have a "day off" they are DH instead of sitting on the bench the whole time.
The west coast games don't bother me that much because of the nature of my job and age So I'm of the camp that I'm able to get my life done during the day and chill watching the game late at night.

At first I hated it. I enjoyed playing the Cubs/Cardinals. Always wanted to go to a Pirates game.

It is cool to have the Yankees come into town each year. as well as the ability to plan a Boston/NYC game.

But with more west coast games I began to realize that I could watch the latter part of games when I am winding down from my day.

Like many have said, at first I didn't like the idea at all. In my younger days I hated the AL and the DH. Fast forward to now and I cannot stand watching the pitcher hit and I really like the AL now. It's an odd feeling growing up watching the NL almost exclusively but it kind of renewed my interest in baseball to some extent also. The late games do bother me some, but I DVR most games anyway so I can fast forward and condense the games down so it just means a later night but I stay up that late anyway most nights.

I honestly enjoy when the Rangers play on the west coast. I feel like it allows me to get everything done in my actual life so that I can then just lay in bed or lay on my couch and watch the game without any interruption. I'm also not old though.

we've also been conditioned for it since birth so it doesn't seem that extreme to be up watching games till midnight for a week at a time

I'm 27 but when I have to be waking up for work at 6 or 6:30 it's hard for me to stay up and watch the end of those games. I usually catch the first few innings. I do like playing the Rangers regularly even though they fricking own us. It's been cool the last two seasons having both teams be good at the same time, I hope it continues

I love the move. Truth is Astros would not be having the same success they had last year and are having this year if they were still in the NL. I'm a fan of the DH. I've adjusted to the 9 PM starts by watching the condensed game on At Bat the following morning as I'm getting ready for work.

I've been an Astros fans since the 70's. I used to lay in bed listening to the Stros-Dodgers west coast games on the radio. I hated the move to the AL only because of the NL rivalry games (Cards, Cubs, Dodgers), but the move is growing on me. I actually like the DH now. The late night west coast games don't bother me as I am a night owl.

i miss all my childhood rivals. I miss the cubs and cardinals. Its weird to me to see the pirates be good finally. The reds have always been trash. As long as I have Bill Brown calling games I dont care what division we're in. Im glad we're out the NL central so I dont have to see that traitor jim deshaies anymore now that he's a cub

I miss the Astros being in the NL west when there were but two divisions. That is the memory of my youth.

I was talking to my wife last night about the Astros not playing the Cubs or Cardinals much anymore. I remember when the Astros beat the Cards in the NLCS to advance to the WS in 2005.
That monster shot Pujols hit on G6 off Lidge, though
