Question for the Astros fans while y'all are still watching the game. What did y'all think of the move from the NL to the AL at the time, and is it different than how you feel about the move now after being AL for a few years?

Always been curious about the dynamics of changing leagues but never asked. I know my Royals had the opportunity to switch to the NL in the late 90's but declined for whatever reasons.

I can't speak for Astros fans, but if they were still in the NL Central, that would be the most stacked division ever

Was not a fan at all at the time. Long run I'm still not a fan, but it certainly helps us right now being in a weaker division. I mostly hate being in the west and having so many west coast games.

Hated it. Bud Selig strong armed Crane into agreeing to a move in order to approve the sale.

I dont mind the DH anymore. That's it. I don't give a shite about most of the teams in our division (Seattle, LAA, Oakland). I hate the fact that most divisional road games don't end till midnight at the earliest.

I like it. I've always liked the AL more than the NL.

Hated the move initially, but I've grown to like it. I just despise being in the west.

I have no problem with the AL. It's the West that bugs me the most. The 9 o'clock start times are the worst. Try and stay up sometimes but hardly do.

Like others have said, at first I was pissed. Now I much prefer the AL. The only negative is the west coast games. Put us in the AL central and I would love that.

I still like the NL having the pitchers hit. With more nl vs al during the year it makes it cool for me when we play nl away.

A lot of disdain for the west coast division game times...I definitely understand that. Even though it's only a few games per year, I despise when the Royals play out west...I can't even imagine having to be in a division of it. Astros in the AL Central would make sense, but I can't imagine who would shift west besides the Royals, which I'm not ok with for the same reasons as Astros fans.

Is there any logical reason that Milwaukee, an original AL team, didn't move back?

I have been an Astros fan since 1980. I hated the move, and I am still not used to it. I spent 35 years not really paying much attention to the AL playoff race and the teams in the AL...then all of a sudden last year when the Astros were in the playoff hunt for the first time since going to the AL, I found myself suddenly giving a shite about rooting against the Yankees, Angels, and Twins....teams I never even thought about in the past.

I honestly enjoy when the Rangers play on the west coast.

I feel like it allows me to get everything done in my actual life so that I can then just lay in bed or lay on my couch and watch the game without any interruption.

I'm also not old though.

Only guess is because they are farther East than Houston is.

Bud Selig didn't want his Brewers to move back.

As someone who used to have season tickets as a young kid to the Astrodome, and watched many Stros division titles in the dome, been to several NLCS, NLDS, and a world series game.

I was happy the Astros were moving to the AL because it seemed to come at a really good time when the Astros owners and management were pretty much at the last stage of their efforts. I thought it might bring a lot of crowds to Minute Maid simply because there was going to be plenty of teams coming into town that many had never seen before like the Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Angels, Tigers...teams with a lot of history. The AL West is probably the best place overall for them in the league, and its cool to have the interstate rivalry with the Rangers, even though the Rangers have embarrassed the Stros this year.

With that being said, I still feel like the NL Central will always have a special place. Too many years between the Cubs, Reds, Astros, and Cardinals in the division race (purposely leaving out Milwaukee and Pittsburgh). The NL central produced some really good seasons with 3+ playoff teams.

Couldn't stretch the television market? Not sure to be honest. Guess the MLB thought the maximum views would come from a Texas market paired with a west-coast market? Maybe they thought they could either a) get earlier views on west coast and b) irregular later views in the Texas market.

Hated it at the time. Still don't like it but live with it. Not like I have a choice.

I didn't have a big issue with the DH. I just more closely identified with NL teams, and still do, though I'm a big Astros fan. I grew up watching the Astros play the Dodgers, Reds, Cardinals, Braves, Cubs, etc.
