The only thing that made Rocker more valuable than Wohlers at times, was him being a lefty with gas.

Rocker and Wohlers as 8/9 were primed to be the answer Rivera and Wettland.

That is why I am interested in what the Yankees do with Chapman. I know he is labeled as the closer but I can see them mix and matching it to go lefty/righty based on who is coming up.

Wohlers was done by the time Rocker came along I believe, at least as a closer... he was never the same after the 96 series

Rocker came up in 98 because of Wohlers elbow. They were setting it up for a Rivera Wettland type duo.

Rockers came up initially as a setup guy then he became the closer, because of Wohlers being troubled with injuries.

If going off for 1 year the 03 Marlins were as good as anyone

Beckett had the worst record, Penny, Redmond, Pavano, and Dontrelle.

The 1971 Orioles had 4 20 game winners. Damn strong if you ask me. It will never be matched.

Great staff. But it will never be equaled because of modern-day baseball. Earl was throwing those guys until their arms fell off and he wasn't using his bullpen. Today you have pitch counts, situational relievers, and 5-man rotations. The best starters these days get 30 starts and many of them don't go past the 7th. How many innings and starts did the Orioles get?

Yup. The game is way different today. Back then you had a 4 man rotation and starters weren't pulled after just 5 or so innings like today's pussy starters are. Earl as did every manager back then let their starters go 8-9 innings all the time. The complete game is a thing of the past. Managers are under way more pressure to win in today's game.

Not as strong as Clemens, Petitte, and Musina.

Didn't the Astros have a month of Randy Johnson, Hampton, Reynolds, and Lima?

Guys throw harder now and throw tons of breaking stuff/sliders

The older guys did NOT put the same amount of stress on their arms as guys do today.

No doubt in my mind. There's a reason all three are HOFers

Halladay, Lee, Hamels, and Oswalt were a great staff as well. Just didn't have the longevity together
