sure. Like ive said so many times in this thread. I think rivalris are fun and i dont think they are stupid. But in this context, id rather win the division or the WS than win the season series against them

OK, here is the flaw. Absolutely no one is saying they would rather beat their rival than win the division or conference or NC. I guranatee you absolutely no one is saying this. If you are saying that is the mindset of those who love a rivalry then you are very very mistaken.

I'm not. Like I've said many times, my argument is not against rivalries, just the idea that they are the single most important aspect of sport or college football. I'm not saying everyone has that idea, just that it is definitely one that is on this board and is also in this thread

I will also throw in there that rivalry week being at the end of the year does indeed make those rivalry games that much more impotant as you have a final shot to stop your hated rival from making it to Atlanta if the circumstances are there.

and? Why is that so crazy

You called it idiotic that someone valued rivalries. That's fricking stupid

You have 2 different favorite teams? no wonder you don't understand rivalries

This is a shifting conversation. Your OP is;

Are college football rivalries still important?

Most have been arguing about this question. You did not say "are rivalries the most important thing in football?" Where everyone would say "hell no"

no. I didn't call valuing rivalries idiotic, I called valuing rivalries over everything else idiotic. That being upset if your school got rid of a rival to put yourself in a better position is something I don't agree with

yea dude. Being only a fan of one would be fricking boring

You start a thread saying rivalries aren't really important and then accuse others of saying they are the be all end all. I'm through with this thread.

I'll tell you this: I know you're not even SC's biggest rival in football, so that plays into it, too.

SC/ND is a much bigger, more important, higher stakes rivalry than SC/UCLA is and pretty much always has been.

Ask any real SC or ND fan who their biggest rival is: ND/Michigan or USC/UCLA. I think the answer would surprise you.

It was a bad title that didn't get my point across, I'll agree with that

most USC fans hate UCLA and ND pretty equally. Ever heard of a perfect day? It's not only when ND loses

Beaver has said it multiple times on the rant. This Ole miss poster has said he would stop supporting Ole miss if the school stopped playing LSU or MSU to put itself in a better situation

And which one matter more to SC fans? The rivalry with their peer in which the two programs share 20+ national titles and 40+ games with title implications or the annual tilt with their developmentally challenged brother?

Not really - I think the Bruins can keep telling themselves that, but it doesn't make it true.

Actually, nothing. I kind of like UCLA, mostly because they annoy the shite out of SC.

But to pretend that UCLA is SC's primary rival is the height of absurdity. It'd be like an MSU fan suggesting that they are Michigan's biggest rival.

That's pretty much it.

when did i say this? I said that USC views us equally with ND and it's pretty obvious for anyone who actually spends any time in LA or actually understands both USCs and UCLAs programs
