This is the worst tread in the history of Tigerdroppings. Stupid question and there are people googling stats. I have lost all hope in humanity.

There's a lot of hate in this thread because I actually agree with the op. He didn't get the pub of a Bruce smith or reggie white early on. And the weirdest thing is he played his career in the media capital of the world.

the giants were in the super bowl in 2000 or so and he was a big part of that defense. He's not some guy who just came on the scene in 2004 or so

Fyi...Just looked up his stats. He didn't do anything his first 4 years in the league. That's why he didn't get the pub early in his career.

i know. And he was still pretty unknown until the year he broke the sack record.

he followed his 15 sack season with a 5.5 sack season. Then had 9. He wasn't exactly a staple of consistency until later in his career.

most people are lying if they say they remember this guy. Especially young twerps like you.

I saw it live and I've seen it a bunch since. Brett was going to be sacked on that play. Did the OC call the play specifically to get Mike the sack? Did the TE let him have a free run to his QB?

Favre changed to that play on his own. Epic play fake.

He went to the Pro Bowl in 97, 98, and 99.

This thread is almost as bad as the troll thread last night with the guy asking if a 2 loss NCAA team had ever played for a national championship

Exactly. It usually only happens in womens basketball or, say the Florida Flop. But Strahan got his gay record on a setup.

Haven't read but the last couple of posts, if people are saying that Strahan was talked about on the level of Watt or even Ware before Watt, they're making stuff up.

He was more Justin Houston than Watt before he approached the sack record.

This is true, but the Giants were pretty mediocre in the 90s, so that might have something to do with it. Unless you were a Giants fan at that time, I can understand why he wouldn't be widely known.

After they made the Super Bowl run in 2000 though, I feel like he was pretty well established as one of the best at his position.
