Anyone else not really know Strahan until last five years?

His career perplexes me in that I didn't know him like a Bruce Smith type of player. Just weird that he is an all time great (rightfully so?) yet a high profile position that was overlooked for the better part of his career.

I don't really remember his early career because I was pretty young but I always remember him being talked about as one of the best in the league.

I have no idea. He had tons upon tons of fanfare in his prime (late 90's, early-mid 2000's). How old are you? That could explain.
