People drive cars drunk all the damn time and get home just fine. Sometimes they accidentaly kill someone, what's the difference?

what about someone driving while on the cell phone and wrecks and kills someone?
Or someone messing with the radio and wrecks and kills someone?

They are not going to jail for 8 yrs.
They're not in the process of committing a violent crime.

I am ok with it. Punching someone in the head is very dangerous. Hopefully this ruling will deter anyone else who would go to that extreme over a dumb rec league soccer game...

so the murder goes down as a friendly if you were angry when you committed the act

8 years is lenient when you consider the point of view of the victim's family. adults shouldn't punch or kick people if they aren't defending themselves

im not trolling, and im not trying to be insensitive. I know he did something wrong, something bad happened because of it. He is responsible for his actions. He needs to be punished. I just dont think 8 years is helping anyone in the situation, unless this guy had some sort of history of violence or something.

It's absolutely the right punishment. We live in a fricking civilized society, you can't go around assaulting people to the point of death because you get "caught up in the moment" and get off without any punishment. And frankly I'm more of an eye for an eye kinda guy so IMO he got off easier than he should have, but either way actions have consequences. He got his

I can't go into too much detail because it would be easy to look up, but Dad got punched in the back of the head a couple of times and died two months later of a stroke, something with the brain stem. Dad was a PSO, it wasn't a bar fight or anything.

Sorry to hear that, I couldn't even imagine. I do have to ask what a PSO is though? I googled PSO and PSO jobs to try to figure out what it meant and the only result was phone sex operator. I am being serious, I wouldn't joke about something like this.

Prison is for career criminals, not one-time offenders. Putting the man in prison serves absolutely no purpose.

Removal from society is probably the best reason, but does society benefit from the removal of one-time offenders or does is suffer?

Someone had previously posted that this was his second soccer related assault. He clearly wasn't deterred by his first punishment.

Seems to me that quite a few others "comprehended" that you're an idiot. Also, I have to ask, what the hell are the quotes about?
