I have to say hitting a child until he is cut and you draw blood is going too far and criminal behavior. There is no need to discipline a child until you draw blood.

He truly feels he has nothing to hide and that it his belief on how to discipline. Obviously he will be taught other parenting options.

I can't beleive there are still people in here who think it is ok to draw blood and scar a FOUR year old, bruise a four year olds scrotum, and shove leaves in a four year olds mouth. There are some sick people that post on here

I don't. I am saying that is what he believes. On the other hand I wouldn't say the kid is scarred. You would be surprised how well the skin can heal in time.

I just read a post in this thread that equated dads using belts or switches to spank their children with the Taliban.

That's not what that post said. This wasn't a spanking. We left spanking behind a long time ago.

This was downright overboard.

Oh I know. That's why I don't think jail time is necessary here. Clearly it doesn't look like AP is doing this out of a dark place, he, along with other Neanderthals in this thread, think this is NORMAL. I think probation and classes could teach him this isn't healthy or right

I am a fan o corporal punishment. But obviously Mr. Peterson went way overboard. Ive gotten whooped with a belt, switch, paddle, and ruler. I would be sore after, and maybe have some redness, but never to the point of bleeding like the kid did. Obviously Mr. Peterson went way overboard. It pains me to say because AP is one of my favorite players, but he needs to lose custody, theres a fine line between discipline and abuse. And Mr Peterson went over that line like it was a touchdown

I doubt he will ever get to see his kid again without it being supervised. Has nothing to do with his right to discipline, it's that he drew blood on a fricking 4 year old. It's pretty disgusting.

It depends on what kind of scars you're talking about.

quote:

Police reports obtained by the Houston station show the 4-year-old boy feared his father would punch him in the face if he reported the beating. He said his father had previously beaten him with belts.

Peterson, the boy told his mom, has a “whooping room.”

When cops grilled Peterson about the beating, he claimed part of the switch wrapped around the boy’s leg, leaving the most severe cuts and bruises. He also admitted pulling the boy’s pants down before hitting him at least 10 times.

When the child returned home to his mother in Minnesota, she reportedly noticed the injuries and took the boy to her doctor. The doctor then notified Texas authorities who contacted Peterson. The running back was indicted Friday for reckless of negligent injury to a child in Montgomery County, Texas. He lives in The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb north of Houston.

Honestly that incident sounds no different than my grandmother's old fashion arse whoopings. That woman could swing a belt, switch, or whatever she could get her hands on.

And if I didn't pull my pants down, she'd just swing even harder to make me feel it through my pants.

Really? Did she hit you in the scrotum?
quote:

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”

Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!”

In further text messages, Peterson allegedly said, “Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has the biggie heart but don’t play no games when it comes to acting right.”

According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.” The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy’s closet.” He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson “likes belts and switches” and “has a whooping room.”

Your intentions were honorable, but you actions warranted 6 months IMO.
