Who the frick is gonna watch the ACC do anything except maybe play some men's basketball?

Can't wait for the North 'Give up 600+ rushing yards against a quarterbackless Baylor' Carolina take on the powerhouse that is Boston College football in primetime on Saturday night.

Digital channel this fall:

While the linear network will launch by 2019, the ACC Network's digital channel will start this fall, sources said.

Pretty serious grant of rights:
quote:

The conference's grant of rights makes it untenable financially for a school to leave, guaranteeing in the 20 years of the deal that a school's media rights, including revenue, for all home games would remain with the ACC regardless of the school's affiliation.

Virginia Tech, BC, NC State, Syracuse, Pitt, Virginia, and Wake are all extremely boring football teams. A few others are only mildly entertaining at the moment because of the style of offense they run.

I honestly don't think I'd enjoy college football that much of the team I like played an ACC schedule.

ACC made some really good hires in football this year at UVa, VT, and Miami. I think Mark Richt will have Miami back competing on a national level in 2-3 years and with VT getting an offensive system to go along with a solid defense, I see VT being on the rise as well. ACC Coastal can't be as bad as the SEC East was last year.

This is doomed to fail. The only two conferences from top to bottom that have enough football fans to make a league network truly financially advantageous for all sides are the SEC and Big Ten.

The ACC is not the top team in it's major markets. New York, DC, Baltimore, Miami, Atlanta, have other favorite teams. There are more Michigan fans in New York City than Syracuse fans. Look at the ratings for Michigan football in NYC versus Syracuse football. Notre Dame is not a full member of the ACC in football. Norte Dame basically replaced the big ten (Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State) with some ACC teams and they are still playing Michigan State and Michigan and Purdue in the future years.

The Big 12 can't have a network because outside of 2 or 3 teams there isn't the interest. The ACC network will be a flop. At least Maryland and Rutgers plays Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State along with Nebraska once in awhile.

Link? I thought those rivalry games were set to continue?

ETA: Notre Dame needs to be playing the likes of Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State and such. It's a classic fit.

I get nothing out of watching them play Wake Forest, Virginia, NC State, Virginia, Duke, Syrcacusem etc,

Notre Dame is the primary reason this happened, imo.

There are a whole lot more basketball games on the SEC network than football games. SEC has a better overall football tv package than the ACC does. It's not a stretch to think more "premier" ACC football games will be on their network than the SEC network has.

Plus, there will be a TON of basketball on the ACC Network.

I also assume they will have all the online platforms / Network + that SEC has.

The ACC Network will be fine. Other content providers may hurt as content is moved to the ACC Network.

This doesn't involve ESPN.

When Notre Dame signed up to be in the ACC for all sports except football, and to schedule X number of non-conference football games against ACC schools, they signed a provision that said they would not join another conference for football for as long as the grant of rights deal lasted.

When the grant of rights deal was extended by 9 years, so was the side deal concerning ND Football. They signed off on it.

If ND wants to join another conference for football, they will have to join for all sports. If that happens, they will work out a breakup.

Besides, no major conference is going to take ND for football only.

By making its deal with the ACC contingent on the ACC getting Notre Dame to agree to this term. Alternatively, having ND intervene in the agreement. Not that hard.

Am I the only one that thinks they should be able to launch sooner than the targeted date.
The blueprint is already out there.
How long does it take in this day and age.
By 2019, the platform may be outdated and the SEC will be ready to renegotiate

Exactly. ND choosing to align with the ACC over the Big 12 basically picked which conference will survive long term.
