The 2019 date is about ESPN renegotiating contracts with carriers.

As for ND, the ACC can't force anything on them. Just if ND wants to join a conference for football other than the ACC there will be some penalties or legal wranglings to get out of this ACC GOR. That said, this isn't a problem for ND as they have no intention of ever joining a conference and this ACC scheduling arrangement and bowl access deal gives them the best of all worlds. Why would they want to join a conference and give up the deal they currently have? Money maybe, but ND already makes alot of money.

More money for Pitino to hire hookers on the poles for those future recruits.

I honestly don't think I'd enjoy college football that much of the team I like played an ACC schedule.
I live in the center of North Carolina and have to tell my coworkers who their teams are playing the upcoming Saturday. The next Monday's conversation usually sounds like "Yeah I watched a few minutes and then went and ran some errands." It's so sad.

-League sources say the contract will be up there with the SEC, Big 10

This is why having quality basketball matters. If the ACC were as weak as the SEC is in basketball, there is no way they get a comparable contract to the B10 or SEC. If the ACC Network relied primarily on football for most of its viewers, it would have to get practically all of those viewers from 3 fan bases out of the 14 schools: FSU, Clemson, VaTech. The rest of the schools don't have the same passion for football that you see in the SEC and B10. Instead, basketball provides waaayyy more games/content for the network to cover and you have quality games to show every night.

Imagine what contract the SEC could get if we could get our basketball on par with a B10 or even a B12 level?

Am I the only one that thinks they should be able to launch sooner than the targeted date.
The blueprint is already out there.
How long does it take in this day and age.
By 2019, the platform may be outdated and the SEC will be ready to renegotiate

Before the SEC Network launched, a small fortune was spent at each SEC school to upgrade/build production facilities, as well as ability to broadcast games from the various venues on campus. Many of the facilities now have permanent broadcasting equipment. Each school has a permanent control room, studios, etc.

These things take time to do.

Staff have to be hired. Carriage contracts signed. Probably gotta build some space at ESPNU HQ (I assume they will run out of there like SEC network does).

Think how much more money Cal has gotten since the SEC deal with ESPN to buy more top 5 classes. 2 vacated Final Fours from 2 different programs. All of a sudden he is a "clean" guy now at LPT

Was there any doubt? These are the same people who attend UofL events wearing LPT gear not involving their team. It's sad

Good. Hopefully with their own network, I won't have to wait for the exciting conclusion of games like Wake Forest vs. Boston College on my local cbs station before switching over to the 3:30 sec game.

Didn't the ACC whip the SECs arse last season during rivalry week?

You do realize everyone isn't a SEC fan down here right?

Thank you for the very valuable anecdote.

FIFY. If Clemson, FSU, or Louisville had lost to USCe, UF, or UK, it would have been really sad.
