Lets face it, it was Okie St. If it were Ohio St, USC or any other program with a more marquee name, the overwhelming sentiment would be in favor of that program. Okie St in this case was no better than having an argument of Boise getting in (from past years). Sucks for them. Or more to the point, let them switch places. If Bama had lost to Iowa St, and Okie St had lossed to LSU, i think Bama would still be in the title game. Because both programs are "perceived" at two different levels.

I have to disagree with that POV. You underestimate how much people outside of the southeastern states really detest the SEC's dominance.

1. OK State has 4 Top 25 Wins, not 5. Stanford has 1, but USC is ineligible. USC is ranked higher in the one poll they're eligible in than any team OK State beat. (BTW Bama has 3 Top 25 wins, not 2)
LINK

2. Can you prove if OK State had gotten third place votes from those 22 coaches, they would've been 2nd in the BCS?

3. Your attempt to equalize Stanford and OK State's lone losses is a hysterical spin job.

4. Good to see some of you are still whining about this.

1) Yeah you're right they have 4, my bad. As for USC they are always over ranked in the AP poll and always will be based on who the voters are. Even if you did rank USC, Stanford still only has one top 25 win and their other wins are completely garbage compared to ok st's.

2) I mean I can look into it. I would think so because the difference is only .0089. That, however, is not the point because I wasn't really trying to prove that and I honestly do not care. The point is that the human polls are obviously biased and therefore cannot accurately determine who should play in the BCS.

3) I honestly do not see much of a difference in the losses. Once again, however, that is not the point. I was saying that the difference in the lone losses is not so great as to provide enough argument for Stanford to be considered number 3 because Ok St. is better in every other aspect of the game. Statistically they are even better than Alabama.

4) If you think I am "whining" about having to play Alabama, then you are mistaken.

Do I think the BCS should be changed? yes;

Do I think a non-division winner with the same record as a conference champion with the same record and a statistically stronger body of work deserves to go to the National Championship? no because they don't. I do think Alabama's a better team, but that's irrelevant. You didn't make it the conference championship and that should be equivalent to not making the playoffs. I was not bitching about that, however, because it is pointless. I was bitching about the BCS system. The fact is who we play January 9th won't change whereas the BCS might in the future.

The point of my post was to complain about the BCS system not the fact that we are playing Bama. Coincidentally, I really do not care one bit about who LSU plays because neither team would be easy to beat. If anything, I was kinda hoping we'd play Bama because it would guarantee the SEC had another national title. Besides if we didn't y'all would probably claim another "championship" anyway so we might as well play y'all.

LSU beat Alabama in their own stadium in front of 100,000 of their own fans. LSU has OWNED Alabama the last decade. LSU has destroyed its competition in bowl games, specifically the games played indoors. The last time Alabama played in New Orleans, they got hammered by Utah. Fricking UTAH!!!!! What makes you so confident Alabama will beat LSU in New Orleans in January? Serious question.

Correct, in OT in an extremely tight game.

LSU has OWNED Alabama the last decade.

Irrelevant. Different players and different coaches mostly. I might as well bring up the 70s.

Again, what timeframe are we talking here? You've dominated your last 2 bowl games? So have we. Anything before that was a drastically different team. Are you talking about LSU's all-time 22-19-1 record in bowl games?

Irrelevant. You do know that players can only play 4 years maximum right?

I believe in our team and our coaches.

Have a nice day.

Ok State got screwed due to the system. Need some kind of play off like ED said on CBS. Remember what had to happen for us in 2007. With that being said Bama is the team that should be playing in the Title Game with us. We won the first match and hopefully we can win the rematch.

That speaks more about your head coach's ineptitude in that game.

Your coaches lost the game in Tuscaloosa for your team. I don't see any reason to believe the outcome will be any different next month.

Have a great day.

Wrong... Bama didn't take care of business either they too had to really on other teams losing to get back in it and the BCS was created to put the best two teams together based on their body of work throughout the season...that is what they have been telling us since the creation of it and it's very clear this did not happen this year...

Bingo. Weakest #2 Resume in the history of the BCS.

Personally, I think ESPN is doing LSU a favor.

We went throught this yesterday.

quote:

16 Harris voters put Ok State lower than 3rd (8 votes of 4th, 5 votes of 5th, and 2 votes of 6th) whereas Bama only had one vote lower than 3rd (4 from Todd Husak)

Alabama got two #4 votes in the Harris poll, not one. Oklahoma State got three #6 votes, not two.

quote:

(D) Saban got a vote but Gundy didn't. (tell me that isn't garbage)

It's a result of a random draw at the beginning of the year. Every conference is proportionally represented.

Bottom line is that nobody outside the SEC wants to see a rematch. The 2 best teams are playing based on what we know and have seen, but in my view Alabama already had their shot vs LSU AT HOME and lost. In my view you have to at least win your conference to make it to the NCG. Bama didn't even win their own DIVISION. I would love to see the Okie St-LSU game just because it would be interesting. I think Okie St gets rolled, but I at least would set time aside to watch it.

If Okla was 11-1 they would get in just because it's Okla. OSU got screwed because they are not a brand name. I completely agree that the human element needs to be eliminated. In high school football (at least in Ohio), computer points determine who makes the playoffs. More often than not, the #1 seed in each region (or at least a high seed) makes it to the finals. Many times that team has 3-5 losses but they are awarded for their strength of schedule. Computers should control it, not coaches who have a bias and/or don't even watch the teams they vote for.

On the bright side, the SEC will finally have a loss in the NCG.

I agree that some voters were being disingenuous, if not downright dishonest in ranking OSU below 3rd.
And, I would have preferred to see OSU v. LSU because I like bowl games to match top teams from different conferences.

However, if I were to use the 'eyeball test' (and I've seen Bama and OSU many times this year) I'd say Bama beats OSU by 14 on a neutral field. The best two teams are playing for the title and that was the goal of setting up the BCS.

Well at least we have one game that will decide something...this we will find out in the Fiesta...which voters were right?

This and the Rose Bowl are the best match ups of any game.

I really don't think Stanford should be ranked ahead of Oregon frankly.
