definition of fluke: a team that's good but not great, has a lot of lucky close wins, isn't dominant in any particular category... may be over reliant on a gimmick or one player.

1. 2013 Auburn (11-1)- A good team, but a 8-4 team masquerading as a 11-1 team. Chances of winning Bama and Georgia games probably less than 1/2 a percent

2. 2002 Ohio State (14-0)- Impressive in the title game v Miami, but needing numerous miracles against mediocre teams for their national title. Holy Buckeye against Purdue, OT against Illinois, a close call against Michigan, almost lost to Cincinatti.. only "dominant" performance of the year was v Washington State. Arguably IOWA looked better than Ohio State in the Big 10 that year, up until the bowl game.

3. 2007 LSU (12-2)- Admittingly this team looked dominant the first 5 games of the year... but the injuries kicked in and this will go down as the flukiest championship team of all time. Numerous close/lucky wins against Florida, Auburn, and Alabama and limping into the title game with an unimpressive showing against a mediocre UTenn squad. The flukiest aspect of this squad is being a 2 loss champion.

4. 2009 Iowa (11-2)- This team only accomplished a BCS bowl win, but we're talking about an 11-2 team that only averaged 23 PPG, beat Arkansas State and N. Iowa by 4 points combined, scored less than 20 in 4 games... very lousy team that had a very solid year.

5. 2005 UCLA (10-2)

You forgot 2011 and 2010 Bama.

Both were good. But both choked away their opportunities only to have others choke back.

Bama didn't choke against '10 Auburn.

The fluke was Bama having such a huge lead at halftime with Auburn fumbling and playing like crap in the 1st half seemingly begging to give the game away and choke.

Auburn came back quickly and dominantly like any great team.

Even if Davis didn't run the damn thing back, at that point does anyone really believe Bama wins that in OT?

Their FG kicker was a mess. Saban was going full retard over and over again.

There was no way Auburn was losing that game.

Youre probably right that there's a better candidate than 2010 Auburn... I'll try to edit that when it comes to mind.

Yea that team was just really good. You don't fluke yourself to undefeated with arguably the best CFB player of all time

Agree with most of your list but 2010 Auburn was definitely not a fluke. They went undefeated against a treacherous SEC West that year (4 teams finished the season ranked in the AP top 15). They deserve their props.

What about Florida 2012?

Played A&M early in the season when Johnny was a n00b.

Defeated handily by Louisville.

Fluked out a win against ULL on a blocked kick.

And they clearly were fortunate to do as well as they did considering this year

Yesterday's win wasn't a fluke. The final play? Yes. But they were headed to OT without it.

Replace 2010 AUburn with 2005 UCLA. Nobody remembers this team, but they got all the way to the top 5 with an 8-0 start and multiple double digit comebacks against mediocre competition. Their season finished 10-2 with a SUn Bowl win, their 9th game was a 38 point loss to 2-6 Arizona and they finished the regular season with a 66-19 loss to USC. Despite a 10-2 record, they only won by an average of 5 PPG, and were outscored by BCS competition.

The frick?

We led Georgia by three touchdowns with ten minutes left in the game. If Auburn played them again it would be a massacre.

And Auburn played toe to toe with Alabama for the entire game.

I really think if this game was later in the season, A&M wins it all last year.

The opposite of fluke teams of course would be the extremely dominant teams.

2001 Miami, 2004 USC, 2005 Texas, 2008 Florida, 2011 Alabama, etc.

Florida State may be that this year, they fit the profile for sure despite a crap schedule.

The fact that you included 2010 auburn shows I can't take you serious.

Why no mention of Notre dame last year?

Why no mention of that 2003 oklahoma team(i think, year may be off) who got blown out in the title game by usc when undefeated auburn was clearly the better team
