but they havent played anybody
Can't help they have a huge district full of shite teams. This is the 2nd year of the contracts. Neville was the 4A champ last year. Leesville had Michael Ford and Stallworth when WM made the deal with them-3rd year playing them. Richwood...honestly no idea why this game was ever scheduled. Anyway, WM only gets 3 out of district games. No one is saying their schedule was tougher than STM's. I've advocated for STM being ranked higher on this site.
As far as betting your life on Acadiana...you'd be dead. No way they beat WM this year with WM's D. WM has beaten them soundly 3 out of 4 times and the only loss was 19-14 with WM having 8 turnovers. With a healthy Turner, WM cruises past them by a similar score to what STM beat them by earlier. I think the same would happen if Acadiana played St. Paul's. Mickey Johnson would seriously limit their offense. I didn't realize STM's starting QB was a sophomore. I feel much more comfortable now with my pick.
As far as 09 champs doesn't mean much, it means a lot imo. The seniors of this team have played 10 postseason games already. That's an extra YEAR of games and practices. If you don't think that makes a difference, I overestimated you.

Was he saying that the sophmore this year was the starter 2 years ago? If so then DAMMMNNNN I like their chances even more with a 3 year starter. That almost beat WM as an EIGHTH GRADER!
And most of WM's Seniors didnt play much last year..none of the olinemen...about 1/3 of the defense played significantly last year.

Doesn't change the extra 50 practices they had over the last 2 years. That's a huge advantage imo. Also, WM replaces their line every year, what's new? Are you trying to be overly against WM to appear objective? Just asking as WM has destroyed every team they've played with Turner playing. They're a completely different team with him in the game.
I'll be in Lafayette November 12-13th, the first week of the playoffs. I'll go to STM's game that night and will be able to give a better prediction.

I think all of their skill players were seniors that year.

I wonder if enough money will be pumped into AES to get them to that level. STM gets the pick of the litter when it comes to athletes. At what point does AES start getting a serious play in that talent pool.

you have to win to be considered the best win was the last time they won in baseball and football

i guessed that is why Kevin Faulk, Damien James, Keiland Williams, Dominick Davis, John Williams, Charles Alexander, Gilbert Meche, Joey Fontenot, Lance Cormier, Jared Mitchell, Brandon Stokley, Kyle Kipps, etc. all went to STM
my point is that a shitload of talent goes to the other schools in Lafayette. to say they have the pick of the litter is quite naive

Im not trying to be anti WM in this thread..although I see how you could think that.
I honestly just dont think this WM team is good enough to pull out a victory in a clutch situation. Turner is GREAT dont get me wrong but he is the ONLY hope the offense has. Cain and Ellis have played pretty good this season ,but it all goes back to that offensive line. Their just not that good. Turner has been sacked more in the first half of the season than he was ALL of last year. And WM is yet to play a team that is a legitimate state title contender. (Ouachita was good but noone would ever pick them to compete for state)
And the one legit passing team they played was up 20 pts on them. People keep talking about this defense being so great but their missing the depth they had last year. Last years dline was the guys starting now AND the three other guys. I wont be suprised if WM takes state because none of us know what Paul Turner is gonna do next ,but my pick is STM.

supa to say that the WR were medicore in 08 is saying a little much. ones playing at tulsa, the best pure one was fremin, and degrauw was the best player on the team?
real problem was mingo, special teams, and our offensive cord. now savoie has his shite together and a lot of weapons. the stm team this year is sick

Ouachita is a lot better than most think. But, WM is even that much better . I'd say WM and Bastrop (4A) both in cakewalks. Evangel also. Cant tell much about the others.

i hope it comes down to wm and stm
id say its WM and STM>>> anyone else

Winning a state title in 2009 doesnt amount to much in 2010
imo, this means a lot. at my time at WM, we went to the dome 4 years in a row, so that means by my senior year I had practiced/played 15 more games (1.5 seasons) than a non-playoff team, thats a lot of experience. The guys on this team have been there twice in a row, so again a lot of extra practice. Plus, experience in a title game does make a difference, going to the dome for WM isn't a vacation anymore, its habit.
