I think reruns of this game make up roughly 25% of the LHN's programming.

Living in Austin as a non-Longhorn fan made that whole 2005 season pretty unbearable. It was an amazing run thought that culminated in an epic game

Immaturity, not lack of ability, was his biggest downfall in the NFL.

I would argue that although it was brief, he did have a mediocre career. Obviously, didn't live up to 3rd overall pick but he went 31-19 as a starter. How have the Titans done since he was cut? 25-45 since VY's last start in Tennessee.

And yes, both he and the game are GOAT.

One of the biggest things that gets overlooked in that game is Lendale fumbling on 3rd down. If he doesn't fumble, they only need a 1/2 yard or 1 yard instead of 2. The SEC Championship game in 2012 was unbelievable, but I still don't think it's possible in my lifetime to attend a game better than the 2006 Rose Bowl.

NFL Network did an incredible piece on this game a while ago. Was pissed I didn't record it. You forget how many incredible plays happened in that game. Not only were there incredible players, but those players stepped up and made the plays throughout the entire game.

Thomas was sensational in that game.

If you mean Earl Thomas, he wasn't on that team. We did have four other future NFL DB's in the starting lineup that night though. Michael Griffin had the big INT in the end zone.

That team was freaking stacked at DB:

Michael Griffin, Tarrell Brown, Cedric Griffin, Michael Huff, and Aaron Ross.

I grew up a Longhorn fan living in Austin and I was at the game.

Will never forget that day.

Define FAR from being the greatest. He's right around the top 15, maybe better depending on who you ask. Definitely top 3 from the BCS era.

This too. They honestly thought they could go toe to toe with 01 Miami. GTFO with that shite

not much separates 01 miami from 05 texas and 05 usc. USC 05 was the greatest offense in college football history, unfortunately for them the defense was probably the worst in the pete carroll era. If the defense was as good as even the 06 team usc beats texas by 17 points.

Still the best college game I've ever watched.

What gets lost in the greatness of that rose bowl is the fact that the Texas Ohio state game and usc/nd from earlier that season are 2 all time great regular season games.

He was a headcase. With a level head he could've been a top QB.

That Texas season also involved the most lopsided post-season game in college football history (bowl or conference title game). Texas beat Colorado 70-3 in the Big 12 championship game, and neither team scored in the 4th quarter. Texas could have scored 110.

Feels like a million years ago. I see those videos from 2005, I see o-linemen finishing blocks, I see running backs getting legit yards after contact, noting like what I see in burnt orange now.

He got in a scuffle at a strip club. The Titans drummed up a false controversy about him being "suicidal" and "driving around with a gun" when Vince was at a girlfriend's house and didn't answer his cell phone.

VY did blow up on Jeff Fisher. This happened when, with a trip to the playoffs hanging in the balance, Vince WANTED to play hurt, but Fisher pulled him. The Titans lost that game & didn't make the playoffs. That is the big knock against him. After years of taking s**t from Fisher, he finally snapped. Look at all the screw-ups we see at QB. Vince is considered a "headcase" because he desperately wanted to play hurt and make the playoffs.

Was a better passer than you think:

This made me laugh. Vince Young was a horrible passing quarterback and there is no way around it. He was terrible.

Vince Young made the pro bowl in 06 and 09 (was not one of the first five options in 09)

2006: 12 td 13 int. 2,199 total yards. Ranked 26th in the league in passing yards. Charlie Frye and Joey Harrington had more passing yards. The lowest Passer Rating for a starting quarterback in the entire league. Dead last.

2009: 10 td 7 int. 1,879 passing yards. Ranked 27th in the league for passing yards.

And these were his two pro bowl years.

i always felt one of those steroid dealers could have intercepted one of VY's floating passes late in the 4th instead of knocking it down.
