She’s been playing on the varsity girls team at her school since she was in the 3rd grade and averaged 30.5 points, 9.2 assists, 6.0 steals per game last season.

Although she’s still about 8 years away from being eligible to play in the NBA – her goal is to become the 1st woman in the NBA – she looks ready for that rematch. In the home opener on Tuesday night, Newman dropped 57 points!

she needs to get that shot off her chest if she even wants a chance to play college basketball with the men.

I don't believe that's the point. The reality is the NBA is better talent. She's been playing varsity girls basketball since the third grade. She wants to prove that she can play with the best, that means playing in the NBA, not the WNBA. I don't believe its for any other reason than that.

That's more of a statement on how ridiculously untalented female basketball players are. You'd never see a 10-year-old boy dominating a varsity boys game.

Who will she defend in the NBA?

Depends on the area.

Good story.......until the NBA nonsense

Where does she live? You aren't allowed to play varsity sports in Louisiana at that age.

yea but how many steals and assist did she have?

Good player and kudos to her for working so hard. Doesn't look like dad is very tall. Obviously, eventual height will matter a lot when trying to play with boys when she gets older.some young taller boys are uncoordinated early. Not so much for high school and older guards.

That's what I said.
How did I get 5 down votes for saying the same thing as you?
I'm calling shenanigans

Very cool. She has some talent.

Let me clarify my statement.
There are some areas that have great female basketball. A skilled 10 year old probably could play up in Cenla, but not in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans.
Also it is easier for younger girls to play up at the high school level than it is for younger boys to play up.
Gabrielle Jennings has been the best distance runner in the state since she was in the 5th grade.
There are several 7th grade girls who start on state championship level softball teams across the state.
