Working overseas in Saudi Arabia for Aramco. Anybody here with experience?

These guys have set up an interview with me for Thursday or Sunday. It's kind of iffy. I was called by the Aramco Services Company out of Houston but the interview is Skype from Saudi.
My question is a couple fold:
1. What should I expect working for Aramco?
2. What should I expect from a Salary?
3. Is it worth it? How do they treat their employees, etc.?

If that's what they pay then I'll just cancel the interview.

I wouldn't trust those salary ranges.

If that's what they pay I don't see how they'd ever recruit any overseas talent.

Don't cancel until you know enough to cancel.

That makes sense. The position is for leading their information technology contract negotiation team, what they call Contract Advisor. I don't know how valuable that job is to them but if I get a good offer, I'd consider.

This.
I have friends who work for an American based Saudi company called Motiva and they pay near the top of the salary ranges for the industry.
I know it's a little different with this situation, but I wouldn't think they would go the cheap route.

I know nothing about Aramco other than that it's an enormous multinational outfit. They can't possibly be treating *everyone* great but they can't be massively doing it wrong either.

They will have an IPO shortly valuing them at around $3T. You should ask for equity as part of the signing bonus if possible.

I almost didn't interview for my current job based on Glassdoor salaries, not reliable at all.

Remember that in the middle east you get paid based on your country or origin. An indian may make 300 a day and an amarrican 1000 per day.

That's insane, but they seem to value English speakers believe it or not. I perused many of their job postings and English was like a mandatory requirement.
My father worked over there for 3.5 years and he said it was rough but he was a Contractor. From what I understand the Aramco people actually live in a compound or you can take the per diem to live in the community.
I'm thinking the live in the community thing is a hard hard pass.

You're 100% correct. They follow Islamic law.

The public practice of any form of religion other than Islam is illegal;

Men should not wear shorts in public.
quote:
Penalties for the possession of, or trade in alcohol are severe. Both result in prison sentences
quote:
Suspects can be held without charge and are not always allowed quick access to legal representation
quote:
Banned: Eating, drinking or smoking in public
Sounds like hell. Oh, and they hate women.

Yes I am in Saudi now, don't believe any pay scale you find online, pay is based on home country as someone else posted. They treat white westerners very well, all others not so much.
What position are you applying for, that would help answer your question a bit better
Calling the expat villages camps is a bit disingenuous, they are nice enough and very westernized, the above poster is FOS.
I rotate and would not move my wife/daughters here but lots of folks do, just depends on what you are looking for.
Mid 6 figures with 6 months a year off with unbelievable benefits is hard to beat. JMHO

I have no direct experience with Saudi Arabia, but I work for an E&P company with operational bases in the middle east and North Africa. We treat our staff very well, great benefits, and the "camps" are very nice. Maybe too nice! Most of our ex-pats have moved their entire families with them, but not so much in the past 4 years for obvious reasons. My European staff are begging to go back once the political and safety situations stabilize. I'm speaking about countries much less stable than Saudi.

Yep Aramco pays the best out of all NOCs or any oil companies that i have ever heard of. You can make serious bank for them in Saudi. Camps I've heard are very nice and self sufficient. No islamic law inside the camp.
I work for a major in Indonesia but have friends who work for Aramco.

Information Technology Contracts Adviser/Negotiator. Leading and mentoring team of folks.
I'll be honest and say I'm not leaving for less than $350,000 a year. I'm guessing they aren't paying that well. It will have to be 3xs my salary here.
My father with a joint venture with Dow/Aramco was paid $500K a year. He said he saved more money in 3 years than he could here in 30. So I know they pay well depending.
