Mine got an embroidery machine last month as well, I'm afraid to research the price because they offered her interest free financing...

It's a nice one though that does not need a separate computer to run the software.

What application is that?

I'm developing it from scratch

I work in IT as a database developer. I built up the database to store everything and stuck all of her orders in there.

I'm still in the process but I started making a .net application to create new orders, edit existing orders, view orders, some reporting on profits and such.

It does some inventory and such for her as well. The application is probably worth more than her business

Yeah that's how this one is but here is the kicker, it will only do the designs installed on the machine. If you want to do a custom design, you need the software, the cheapest I've found it is around $200 for a very basic version.

Whatever you do, don't ever tell her that.

WTF is that?

I guess I meant forming an LLC. If we are going to get income tax I want to look into maximizing deductions but I have no clue how any of that works

YES. You typically need an occupational license for a home-based business. Depends on the parish and city. You will need to collect sales tax.

Just wait till some local tax authority approaches you about a license.

Pay your income taxes

I catch the sarcasm but I didn't do it to make money.

Wife needed a hobby outside of work and 2 kids, now she has one. Not only that, it funds itself now.

How many hobbies do you have that have paid for the initial equipment cost in 2 months then continued to paid your overhead cost?
