Is it just me or does it seem like this committee think that negative rates are a good idea?

It seems so. I'm not sure that they are not just trying to impress their voters back home that they know what negative interest rates are.

Or, they are praying the Fed approaches congress asking for explicit authority to implement negative interest rates which will give them an opportunity to include their favorite conditions into the bill to impose on the Fed.

Pretty sure this hack is saying she's against improving labor skills for low wage earners

I wish she would have just simply said, "that's a fiscal policy issue and your job, not mine."

If you were watching, the green t-shirt gang behind Yellen were all nodding their heads up and down to Senator Mama Cass' remarks that improving job skills is not a solution to low wages.

Regarding her complaint about the strong dollar, does she not know that the value of the dollar is not one of the mandates of the Fed? That's the Treasury Department's job, by law.

She got her 'gotcha' speech into the record so she's happy.

She just schooled the committee on why negative interest rates would hurt the economy, not help it.

And then Senator Shelby from Alabama just read a question about allowing muni's owned by banks to help improve banks' capital ratio and that I'm absolutely convinced was written for him by a staffer and he is clueless as to what he just asked.

damn missed that these meetings are proof that congress should have NO control over monetary policy. No questions asked. Rates would already be negative if they had it their way

It certainly does make an interesting argument when people talk about eliminating The Fed and putting all monetary policy and powers with Congress

An argument against, that is
