The congresswoman basically admitted she didn't understand Yellen's answer and then went into a diatribe about black unemployment. The committee chair cut her off because her time had expired.

Now another question from a black congresswoman about 'subsidies' for "big banks" because the Fed is paying interest on bank reserves with the Fed while blacks can't find work. What is the Fed going to do about that?

This hearing, that's apparently turned into a witch-hunt, is going to only show just how incompetent some of these elected official are. It's humorous at this point. I'm sure even grandma is having to bite her tongue to not just destroy these people.

And exactly, they act as if Yellen is running for president with these questions: "what you gunna do for the black folk"

Seriously?

Agreed. It's a shame that her verbal communication skills are so lacking but when she talks it's a consistent economic lesson to anyone who is interested in learning something.

Unfortunately none of the congresshumans who are there appear to fit that description.

Another damn incoming phone call and I missed that.

Someone wrote above it's humorous how ignorant these politician clowns are. It definitely is but at the same time, it always makes me angry and a little depressed.

That was a good question about how proposed Basel regulations requiring 5X more capital to cover trading would impact the U.S. loan securitization markets.

But I think the congressman meant that market is a $1.2 TRILLION not $1.2 billion market.

He appeared to think whatever the Basel committee approves is automatically implemented in the U.S. by the Fed.

She set him straight.

DJ is up 55 points.
