Pardon my lack of knowledge on the TMS but what is the gas production like on these big wells? I know the TMS is an oil play but I have someone who was feeding me some bullshite about his royalties and I am trying to figure out if he is even close to telling the truth. He said his royalties were coming from gas only wells.

Where is he located? It's probably the deep lower Tuscaloosa (not TMS). Those are huge gas wells.

I'm not sure that would work at $100 oil.

I meant to add that at the end of my comment...the TMS, at this tech point in time, just doesn't really work.

Yep, that's the old BP (maybe Amoco?) deep gas near Baton Rouge. And it's conventional, not marine shale.

Not sure exactly where but he has told me about 100Mcf a day at total depths around 100,000 feet. It just sounded so extreme, I had a hard time believing it. Our family had some acreage around the Haynesville and those wells were doing like 15Mcf and everyone thought they were huge.

I already knew that part was bs but what about the 100mcf/day. I sure its possible but are there any wells in LA doing anywhere close to that?

100 mcf/day is hardly anything. The main problem with the gas is that the area is nearly devoid of gathering systems so they are most likely going to flare that amount of gas.

I think you meant 100 MMCFD as there's a pretty substantial difference in that and 100 MCFD.

Haynesville wells don't even come in half of 100 MMCFD so I think your friend is totally full of it or uninformed.

The claim is that his acreage is further south, not in the Haynesville. I don't have info on where it is exactly or I would just look up the well information myself.

I assume you meant 100MMCF, and that's not coming from one well. It's definitely possible if there's more than one well though.

Correct. Can't seem to type two M's in a row.

He tells me that it is one well producing that much and they are planning on drilling several more in his section. I am pretty sure he is full of shite.

ETA: Sorry for hijack. I'll get out of the way now.

You must be talking about the McMoran et al ultra deep play. I think their first well was IP'd for 43 MMCFGD

McMoran ultra deep

Probably a costly place to drill at $2.50/Mcf natural gas

Wow, that well would be a legendary disappointment.
