Has anyone been approached to join Team National? If you've joined, has it worked for you? I'm generally skeptical of the idea, but the wife is very tempted by it.

A fireman I worked with had 20 years in and retired early to do TN. He had been hounding us for years about joining and retired early, cashed out all his retirement and now is broke and works construction at 50 years old. That's all I know about it. I think he got a good deal on a couch though.

It was hard for me to sit there with a straight face after seeing their "deals" and what I already get.
18% off on ATT, already get 22% off Verizon with a great grandfathered plan.
4% back from Holiday Inn, when I already get 6%.
4% from Walmart online when I can get 5%.
What I couldn't compare was their insurance and large purchases like furniture and appliances.
I already told my wife I wouldn't be doing any of the selling part of it. If the savings made sense, then go for it, but neither of us are quiting our day jobs.

I have a customer that pushes it. Which sucks because he buys things from me I have to listen to him talk about it.
Pretty sure you have to pay money to get into it, which automatically puts me out.

It's a ripoff.
There are a few things going on:
1. You are paying the company to give you discounts you can get for free from coupons, rebates, using cash, etc.
2. The Jos. A. Bank effect where you are paying $100 for a $100 item but are told you're paying "$100 for a $1000 item!!!!!!"
3. You are simply pre-paying for discounts with your membership fees

I was asked to one of the presentations - it is a pyramid scheme - it works if you hustle it though - couple in my town are doing great marketing it -

The only way for it to work is to get other people to sign up under you. Basically you have to hound your friends and family to spend 700 or 2500 to join. They throw in the crap about big saving on furniture to rope you in.
So the only way you make money is if the people you signed up sign up more people under them. You accumulate points and those points translate into dollars.
If you are cool with the idea of profiting off people you know and they know while doing absolutely nothing other than begging them to join a club then join. If it sounds to good to be true it is.

I was more skeptical than any of you. We only joined bc we thought we were helping a friend, with no intention of ever telling anybody about this, but we have saved our membership money back twice over (cell phone bill, furniture, home and auto insurance.) Pyramid schemes are illegal and do you think AT&T and Met Life would be involved in an illegal scheme? This is direct marketing, no different than Pampered Chef or Avon. Google Forbes and MLM if you want a different perspective.
