There are still several, for the time being, at least.

PQ
Marlin
Badger
JP oil

Just off the top of my head.

I do think both PQ and SGY are going to be toast and those are the only two public Lafayette e&p companies I can think of.

Yeah there are more small ones, just not many and stone is the biggest.

Stone was definitely the big boy on the block. Don't want to see it go, that's for sure. Just pointing some existing ones out.

A couple of those would probably be public by now if oil hadn't tanked.

Back on the rise...slowly but surely

Everywhere I look it seems to still be labeled a Hold. And at this point I don't have much more to lose than wait for a potential payback.

Even saw this, as unlikely as that may be:
SGY has 669% upside

After reading their financials I will diff be staying clear for awhile.

LINK

Also hearing talk of oil taking a tumble again soon, keeping my remaining powder dry for the time being. Have 2-3 way less risky plays I am waiting to jump on.

They're primarily a shitty Marcellus player now.

What?

They currently hold 1.2m acres, of which 88,000 are in the marcellus and the rest in shelf GOM and deep water GOM.

I do know they are currently hiring. so maybe they know more than you all do.

What I do know is that they hold 1.4 billion in debt and only have 1.1 billion in assets. They will not be able to meet their debt covenants in the very near future and will be at the mercy of the creditors. It's not a matter of if this will happen, it's a matter of when. The only thing that can save them at this point is their creditors allowing them to restructure their agreement. They are working with a legal team to accomplish this, but Stone is in terrible shape financially even if they do stay afloat.

Yes, I think everyone can agree we all know the basic checks and balances here, but like i said, they are one of the very very few hiring.

Which is irrelevant.

SGY must repay $279 million by March 1, 2017.

A lot can happen in a year. Again, not saying I'd put my life savings on it. But considering I've invested what I'm willing to lose, the potential of it rebounding to even 3-5$ is worth losing a few more hundred to me.

Is there anything going on in the Mercellus these days? I got some holdings over there and it's been ugly.

Anyone got any info on Caza? They got some nice real estate in the Permian basin.

I made some really spec buys 3-4 years ago. I'm hoping they all don't go under and surrender the shares.

Nothing going on in the Marcellus right in the short term.
In the long term it should be a very fruitful area as the U.S. makes the transition from majority oil user to majority natural gas and liquid natural gas user.
That transition will probably take decades though.

This is making the June and September puts so tempting to throw a few hundred bucks at right now. If Doha doesn't disappoint, just average down a bit and wait for earnings.
