Time to turn in the sleek ride for a more practical family vehicle. (Three kids, maybe one more in a year or so)
Anyone have any preferences on minivans.
18-20K price range.
TIA

I don't own one, but I hear a lot of good things about the Honda Odyssey.

for that price i'd get a used 2016 Chrysler Town & Country.

Get a Sienna. Most comfortable/reliable.

My Brother just bought a new 2018 Odyssey for over 45k. I was in disbelief what mini vans go for these days.

Better look for a used one for that price range. New ones run in the 30's and 40s.

For sure... I was blown away how expensive they can be.
I was going to go with a '12-'14 model. Thanks for input everyone. Dad life is expensive AF.

The Odyssey is frighteningly practical. Storage bins all over the place, plenty of cupholders....but damn, I'm glad I don't have to drive one of those things.

They are even nice to drive, at least chrysler is anyway. Road trips are comfortable and easy.
I held off not getting a van until i had to. Now I wish we had bought one earlier. way better MPGs than SUVs, too.

You get much better bang for your buck with a Chrysler T&C than you will with a Honda or Toyota. You could get a 2016 T&C with around 20-30k miles, very well equipped for that range.
At that price, with honda or toyota you will either have to accept much higher mileage or far less features/options.
They each have their drawbacks. The honda is the transmission and engine problems depending on the year and if it has the variable displacement engine. The toyota has transmission issues and you can't remove the middle seats. Chrysler T&C doesn't have independent rear suspension (pacifica does though).

If you want the most luxurious, check out Nissan Quest LE. It is comfortable and decked out with features.

If you ever buy a suburban you will never go without one. You don't have to buy a new one, look on autotrader for 1 owner 2011-2013 with less than 75k miles.
You won't be disappointed

You mean outside of the poor gas mileage, lack of sliding doors, it being a Chevy with an interior that falls apart, etc.?
I'm not a huge fan of vans, but they serve a purpose and it's ludicrous for anyone to make fun of them for someone to use to best raise their kids.

I'm enjoying my Odyssey. They are getting a facelift next year so you might be able to find some deals on the current generation.

No no no no no.
This thing FAILED THE shite out of the IIHS's small overlap test. It got absolutely destroyed. Please do not put your family in one of these death traps. LINK

My ex wife and I bought the first Odyssey when they came out in 1996, she still has it just to haul stuff for her business, over 300K miles , nothing but brakes and a radiator for repairs. We got it to haul our kids when they were little, then all the kids borrowed it to move to college, and again when they moved to new cities after graduating college. We have pictures of them standing next to the van when it was new and 20 years later, it became part of the family, and looks like it will probably be around to haul their kids.

Has no one ever told you that condoms prevent mini-vans?

I wasn't making fun of anyone or anything, just giving my opinion, I've owned a suburban since 2004 and absolutely love it..
Gas mileage doesn't matter to me bc I use it as a 3rd vehicle.
