Anyone use it that can give a review or recommend it or another site for investing? Seems like they make you jump through hoops to verify who you are, etc.

If you're even a semi-active trader, I would caution you to read the various online reviews and rankings before placing money in a Merrill Edge account. Depending on the size of your account or status at BofA, you can trade for (basically) free. I have high blood pressure. And based on their tendency to have account "issues", I was concerned that they might kill me within the first six months. I took a pass. But YMMV.

It' annoying to deal with everything over the phone. They call you once every 6 months to review your account. They'll call at random times and expect you to take 45 minutes to an hour out of your day to discuss your entire financial situation. I need to either get with an actual advisor (now that I live in a town where there are actually Merrill Lynch offices).

I get 15 free trades a month. I usually only make 1 or 2, but I have never had any issues.

I think I get 30 trades a month free, I average less then 5 though. Easy to transfer money to and from a b of a account, I consider myself and investor, not a trader, so Merrill edge is perfect for me.

I've got an account there. Their research dept is great. However, if you want to buy penny stocks (under $1.00), you have to have at least $25k in the account or they won't let it go through. Dunno why. I had to move some extra money over after I opened it as a play account to be able to buy some pennies. Other than that, I like it. The mobile app works great and you can pull down reports to your smart phone or tablet on the go.

You can also deposit funds to the account at any Merrill Lynch office.
