Is that base salary or does that include bonus and 401k matching? If base, that's higher than I thought.

Shaw has never placed engineers out to a south nuclear plant. Only ones I have seen is dp and enercon.

I see people using Houston rates they are higher than baton rouge.

I'm about to finish a nine month training program with a major service company as an applications engineer. I just graduated in may as a ME. I have a starting salary for the training and will be getting a pay increase when done with the training. Do you know anything about an application engineer salary in California?

Will definitely call bs on the Exxon guy's friend making $200k. My ole man was a senior section supervision and a project manager on a number of large turn arounds over his 30 yr career at Exxon(plastics, refinery). He was also one of the lead guys getting the Beaumont plant back running when that hurricane wiped the plant out. He never sniffed $200k. Your friend is lying to you. Call his bluff.

There's a lot of truth in this statement...

I'll ask him when he gets back from his 2 week overseas Asian trip for Exxon.

His projects are worldwide projects, not local to any one plant like your dad.

He does go to BR for work everyday. He just travels a lot as well. Not a contractor

He lives in BR, has an office in BR. Has worked in BR at Exxon for 15+ years. He has to travel to China, Japan and Singapore very often. Doesn't change the fact that he is based out of BR.

I give up. Engineers make 300k and maybe I should go back to school to be an engineer and leave the nuke industry for the oil industry.

After working for 30+ years I have found that the answers you get to questions about salary are about as accurate as those you get when asking a person how much they have won or lost at a casino.

I have a degree in ME, and a PE a well. I do automation and controls engineering consulting, 7th year in industry and my salary is 95k, but I get bonuses and overtime pay which usually bumps me by about 30%...for instance last year my gross was about 130.

as a Civil Eng, this thread really bums me out. 3 yrs in civil design/ construction and I'm dying for a change.

I've been trying to break into the energy industry in Houston and have not received so much as a sniff. not even with any midstream companies.

MEs have all the fun I guess.
