How light of a workload do you guys think FIN 710 will be? Similar to FIN 701? I'm already signed up for ISDS 705 and tempted to double up...

Seems very similar to FIN 701 to me. 4 exams, to textbook, he posts his own course material on moodle, test range from 24 to 33 questions multiple choice and true or false. Open book test

Just noticed the link below our posts under "Sports Lite" showing Cowboys QB Dak Prescott partying at a hotel in Shreveport. I guess he grew up near Shreveport. I did not know that.

hello SoCal, yeah it was on either page 82 or 83 of this thread... he said that he found it online & I was just hoping to get the link for it. Haven't heard back or received anything as of yet.

This ISDS class is my 2nd to last class, so all I really need to pull is a C. As of right now I've made all A's in each course. I'll either leave 752 with Knotts with a low A or high B... either way I'm in my "I don't give a f*#!" mode as far as these last two classes go LoL

Finished up ISDS 702 (Hayati) with an A and thought it was a fantastic class. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone that hadn't filled their ISDS need. On to MADM760..

young moonlight, I dodged ISDS 702 with Hayati as I heard feedback he was tough. Going to take ISDS 705 now. Hope I don't regret it.

Can you share a little about how 705 was structured, how much workload, grading, and Hayati's style? It's not to late for me to pull out of 705 and take 703 later

I just finished ISDS702 with Hayati. Solid A. What a great class! I don't understand why they removed it from the core course list.

I'll 2nd the opinion that this is a great course to take with Hayati if you are grandfathered into the ISDS 702 as a core.

mntreks, can you expound on why this was a great class? What was the workload, etc? How type of works/tests were assigned for grading, etc? I want to compare it to ISDS 702 to see which one I should take. 702's entire grade is based on 3 tests.

Socal,

Maybe because your grade consists of only 4 exams (exam 4 was cumulative) but I felt like he explained and taught the course extremely well. And it was material that is relevant to any field so it made me interested in wanting to learn the subject.

Things I liked about ISDS702:

Extremely relevant material that I am immediately using in my job.

Super long time limits on tests. If you know the material you have plenty of time to finish, review, and you'll still have a lot of time to spare.

Tests 1-3 had study questions from the professor. Drilling with these questions and watching his recorded zoom sessions was sufficient to do extremely well on the tests.

Test 4 -- reading the new material, reworking the previous test questions, and watching the zoom session was sufficient.

The math is really easy. Learn a handful of basic algebraic equations. Use excel. Read / interpret charts and graphs.

Things I disliked / could have been better:

Recorded zoom sessions this time. The prof did respond to questions fairly quickly, but this course was probably on autopilot.

Nitpick: Zoom sessions where we had to put up with a lady that constantly asked questions / interrupted about material the prof has just explained. I figure she ate up a good couple hours of my time over the course of this class. (This is what tutoring / office hours are for)

Sometimes it felt like more review questions to drill would be good, but working the same questions multiple times did work just fine.

Thanks so much for the detailed description of ISDS 702. Makes me think maybe I should take it instead of 705. Would be great if someone could give insight on 705 but I think this may be the first time Professor Lin has taught it. Maybe I'm wrong.

SoCal77, this quote was found on page 49 of this thread by Winchester12

"I spoke with a co-worker this morning who had Lin for ISDS 705. He said you read certain chapters each week and then have a mid-term and then read another certain amount of chapters each week and then take a final test. No math, no calculations. Test were 60 minutes I think. He took it in the fall of 2015 and said it wasn't proctored so he used notes and tabbed his book out. Not sure if its proctored now though?? In his opinion it was an easy class and he got an A. Seems easier and less stressful to me than ISDS 702. Anyone who registered for it for AP2 please provide some feedback."

Only difference now is that it's 3 tests & it may be proctored...

Also, has anyone taken the final for MADM 752? I would like to know the structure in terms of did you find it to be easier than those MindTap quizzes with the trick questions? Were the answers easy enough to get right based off common sense & looking over the material that she said would be covered? Is it more akin to the knowledge assessments, & how they were setup?

Roanoke, I found 752 final to be far better than Mindtap quizzes. Questions make more sense and correct answers more obvious. Not like Mindtap answers where 3 out of 4 look correct. Also, many True or False questions.

Thanks for info on 702. The Syllabus says it it proctored now using ProctorU.
