Anthony25, the document you posted refers to if you attend LSUS at the Shreveport campus while being an out of state resident. Not for online classes. Everyone gets the same low tuition. As for your second question, an email came out last week stating that the pre-reqs are optional. Here is the text:
On Behalf of the MBA Director:
The University has approved changes to the foundation courses for the MBA program. These foundation courses are BADM 700 Fundamentals Accounting/Finance and BADM 701 Fundamentals Economics/Statistics. Effective January 1, 2018, the current foundation courses will be eliminated and replaced with 4 one-credit hour courses that you decide whether you need or not. These classes will be offered on a pass/fail basis. This reduces the foundation credit hours in the MBA program from 6 to 4. More information will be provided about availability of these courses prior to registration for Spring AP1.
How does this affect you today?
• You are no longer required to take foundation courses, but if you do not have a background in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and/or Statistics, you are strongly encouraged to opt to enroll in the classes covering content with which you are unfamiliar.
• Potential Registration Considerations:
o If you were waived from the foundation courses because of previous course credit – no change
o If you have already taken the foundation courses – no change
o If you are enrolled in foundation courses – you may continue in the courses in which you are enrolled or drop those classes, select classes with no prerequisites, and pick up the new foundation courses in Spring 2018 or later
o If you have taken one of the foundation courses – you can take the remaining 3 hour foundation course during Fall 2017 or take 2 one-credit hour classes covering similar content later in your degree program
o If you want to take foundation courses but have not registered for them – you may switch to the optional foundation courses starting in Spring 2018 or opt for the 3-hour courses in Fall 2017

Does anyone know how the degree comes in the mail? Is it just the diploma or does it come enclosed it something? How long does it take to receive the degree after conferral date? Thanks

It comes enclosed in something via USPS. 2-3 weeks later.

Good luck to everyone starting classes today! Ready to tackle MKT 701 and ACCT 701. Also, keep those in the Houston area in your prayers. One of my classmates from MADM 760 who is also enrolled in MKT with me was affected pretty badly. Said his neighborhood looks like a bayou. He and his family were rescued by boat and were only able to get 4 trash bags worth of sentimental items.

Wow Jeaux, that's rough for your classmate. We will keep them in our prayers. Makes us appreciate things we take for granted.

Very unfortunate indeed. My brother is in Cypress and he has been ok for the most part, areas are flooded all around him, but as of yesterday, they still had electricity and potable water. They will be in our prayers for sure.

Those who took MADM 701, is it worth investing the time to watch the videos at the beginning of each section in the e-text? I watched the first few and didn't really get anymore out of it than what was written.

For those in ACCT, it doesn't seem like it's going to be too bad. I made 100% on both Quiz 1 and Assessment 1. Haven't looked into MKT much but plan on it this evening.

Jeaux Cool good job getting it done early! I'm hoping to knock out the first module tonight for ACCT 701. Any advice for us?

Hi brentb71,
I didn't watch the videos at all. They are not that helpful. I would say study her powerpoints, review the end of the chapter questions, and review the orion assignments. Try to answer more than the bare minimum on the orion assignments because they are similar questions to the exam.

In Module One there's no math whatsoever. I was able to find most all answers just glancing through the powerpoint and using search function on the chapters. I didn't think it was that difficult, but I work in accounting so take that FWIW

Did you know the scores right after taking the quiz and assessment?

Scores for Acct 701 are shown immediately after submission.

Have to agree with MBA Student. From what I remember, the exams are based on the readings, and extremely frustrating. Just read the chapters 2-3 times. If there is a question regarding content from the videos, it is displayed during the quiz so you can watch it for reference.

Has anyone taken MKT 701 recently? I have Aadel Darrat. I believe he may be new. We only have 3 exams and I was wondering if anyone knew about the length of the exams.

Thanks for the advice MBAStudent and robbie. The workload seems overwhelming. Just going to take it day by day, week by week.
Agree with Jeaux on ACCT. It wasn't bad. I read the chapters, watched the video and powerpoint and didn't really need to reference any of them for the quiz and assessment. I actually thought the assessment was easier than the quiz but I prefer MC over TorF. I also am an accountant so none of this was new to me. It may be a little tricky if you haven't had any accounting before but you'll have PLENTY of time to refer to the material. Good luck.

UL Lafayette now has an online MBA program. They have a pretty good MBa program there.

From what I've read, MKT 701 has been completely restructured. We are the guinea pigs with the new format and Darrat's first class I think. The discussion questions weren't bad at all imo. 250 word responses and must reply to a classmate's post. Much like you, the exams worry me some due to the unknown. I think it'll be fine though
