That is a good question since Intel pays a healthy dividend

Well… paid. They cut the div. by 66% today. Their free cash flow couldn’t support the dividend and needed capital expenditures.

Intel designs subpar chips compared to AMD and NVDA, and their fab is subpar compared to TSMC. It’s the worst of both worlds.
TSMC has manufactured intel chips for them.

I would not want to buy a stock competing with NVDA and AMD over the next five years.

Intel doesnt compete with nvda on cpus. Nvda doesnt really design cpus, mainly gpus

Well I normally wouldn’t have cared so much about Intel, but they’re investing at least $20 billion and just started building a couple factories on a 1,000 acre site in my area (Columbus, OH), so I feel more invested in their success now.

This thread would have been a solid entry point, but Intel just can’t do things right for long…

So far I up pretty decent, but nothing earth shattering. Obviously the divvy cut, was healthy for the business bottom line.

Still think they are slowly turning their ship. Big question is do they split the foundry business.

Probably was not a wise investment vs just an index

About the same time that this discussion was going on, the one that got away from me that I really regret is IBM. Much better financials, solid div. and IMO, greater potential.

Tomorrow,1/26/24, will be an interesting day. After hours is down more than 10% based on disappointing 1st Quarter guidance.

How far they have fallen. When i worked there 1999-2001 they were the best in the biz.

AMD was still trying to figure out why their fab process was failing at such a high rate - turns out someone in receiving was opening the wafers in a non controlled environment to make sure the count was correct.
