How about some car talk? Anyone in the market?

My car is in the shop for body work (damn deer). So, they gave me a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country Mini Van.
My review: Piece of crap. I don't want a camera to see what's behind me. If the kid is too slow to get out of the way he should step lively. Also, when I turn off the ignition I'd like for the radio to stop playing.
I brought it back after one day to get a VW Jetta, 2010.
My review: Piece of crap. But better than the mini van. I don't need a display showing me that when I step on the accelerator my mileage goes down. I know that. Hell, when I'm stopped at a red light my gas mileage is doing great.
Anyone up in here shopping for a car?

I'm shopping for a car. With the current gas prices and my long-arse commute every day, I'm really leaning towards better gas mileage over what I'd prefer (SUV). I was looking at the Kia Optima the other day. Anyone have any comments on this car?

I'm gonna wait until gas hits $4.50 this summer and make a good deal on a Suburban.

I love the way it looks. Fine looking car.
FWIW, I got a 2011 malibu 2011 lt for 19k. Pretty good price, not a flashy or badass car but gets about 22-24 around town and 27 to 30 on the highway.
I love the look of the optima, kia has really stepped it up.

pondering my diesel move as well with this timeline.

Diesel has been pretty steady over the last year or so, I don't think I paid less that 3.65 over that time

I like that my radio doesn't turn off until I open my door and the engine is off
I'll probably go for a Jeep Grand Cherokee as my next car, but the ones below are on my list.
The choices I currently have on my radar:
SUV -- Jeep Grand Cherokee
Regular Car -- Hyundai Genesis
Expensive Car -- Hyundai Equus or Audi A5
Hyundai Genesis might be the best 'bang for your buck' car on the market right now. Hyundai has completely transformed its business -- very excited about the direction that company is headed.
The Hyundai Equus is probably the best 'bang for your buck' car at the high-end of the market. It has the features of cars that typically run more like 100k instead of 65k. Interesting branding note: The Equus does not have a single Hyundai logo on it....except in the owner's manual. It does not have a brand logo -- very odd to see a car without one of those.
If I go with a SUV, the JGC is hands down the winner. I own a JGC right now and I love it. The 2012 model is way nicer than mine too. I would have to decide if I want the Limited or the Overland (or Overland Summit). Again, the car has the benefits of an SUV but 2012 steps up the quality to the luxury standard.

I thought the maybach was similar in the non branding.

Not exactly your standard car either
I imagine there are a few exceptions but not many.

I am in the market as well right now, but I probably won't make a purchase until June.
Currently looking at small to midsize SUVs. My top 2 right now are a 2011/12 Equinox and 2011 VW Tiguan. I also plan to check out the new Mazda CX-5 when it is released

Tell me about Audi's. I test drove a 3prequel year old BMW 5 series last week and I was unimpressed.

I've got a 2010 Traverse, its a really nice ride. Also have a 99 accord that i'm gonna be replacing soon, I volunteer for BBBS and my little get his license next year, so the accord will be his.
I'm Interested in another accord, maybe even the plug in hybrid slated to be out later this year.

I can't comment on the Optima specifically, but I bought a Kia Sorento about 2 years ago (the new body style) and really like it. Nice standard features and good warranty. I get about 25mpg driving about 24 miles each way to and from work in Baton Rouge traffic. I would probably be more like 28 if I didn't have to deal with all of the stop-and-go daily.

I am liking the supercharged A7 a lot. That is a good looking vehicle, 310 HP. Then again, I told myself I was never buying another vehicle that requires premium gas.

What model compares closest to a 5 series AWD?
Posted on 2/28/12 at 6:11 pm to yellowfin
Smart play. The suburban is a fine automobile.

Bought my truck in late 2008. Gas prices had dropped but no one was budging still. I've added 60k mi and it's blue booked at $1k less than I paid then.
Its all about timing.

Why in the world didn't Hyundai come up with a luxury divison. $65k, it's still a Hyundai and alot of people just won't buy it simply b/c they associate Hyundai with cheaply made vehicles.
