Yea, was doing the math earlier and explaining to my wife that we'd need $24k after tax just for health insurance premiums and property taxes. That's before we ever turn on a light or make a mortgage payment. We are very fortunate but this could easily cause undue stress on others who may not be so lucky.

ah yes, good ole property taxes lol those dont count according to democrats bc donald trump doesnt pay federal taxes so therefore he pays ZERO TAXES

OBAMACARE
it will prevent people from putting money in retirement accounts or investing.
It is grand theft.
Every libtard that voted for him deserves this.

Obama and the Dems have screwed this country in more ways than just the healthcare issue but healthcare is a huge cost to the average family. Our insurance through employer is going up again. With 2 kids we are looking at a huge deductible and ever increasing premiums. Insurance will only be there if there is a major issue. Everything else is out of your pocket in addition to huge premiums. But they want to talk about grabbing vaginas and Mexicans

The US voted for this. Yay.
Actually when the Dems passed it the polls indicated that the clear majority of US citizens were opposed to it.

It's a joke. People are paying $2k a month for a family and everyone is young and healthy. It's their "punishment" for working and being productive members of society.

100% agreed.

I'm a healthy 30 year old male who used to pay $72 per month for a $2,500 deductible plan through Blue Cross. Obamacare cancelled my plan and left me with the cheapest option being a $300 per month $5,000 deductible plan before I started getting insurance through work. I just ran the numbers on the exchange for kicks: it would cost me $372 per month for a $5,000 plan with 30% coinsurance.
As a healthy 30 year old.

Only thing I like about ACA is the 26 rule.
I'm torn on pre existing conditions. One of my best friends is Type 1 Diabetic and is basically uninsurable without ACA. I definitely think he should pay more but he should also be able to get insurance if he is willing to pay more.

Ya its nuts I spoke with them a few months ago to see if I could lower my payment at blue cross blue shield and they told me to stay put bc im grandfathered in and the new similar plan was $150/mo more per person

$1175 a month for family of four with the biggest deductible. That's $14,100 a year for health insurance

Yeah that sucks. This is going to be top of mind for any career change someone considers. It is so material to our financials annually even for young people.

How much are you paying with work covering a good bit? I still can't believe they want us to pay $440 a month with her employer being who it is.

Is that on your own on through an employer? If on your own have you looked into the catastrophic plans? $14k a year is just fricking insane plus I'm sure you have like a $7,500 deductible per person or something, right?
This can't continue. You don't want to be w/o insurance, especially with kids, but how can they expect people to pay a mortgage just for insurance? At what point do the silent majority say enough?

I pay just under $300 and my office pays just over $300, from what I've been told. It's a very good plan though. No deductible, like a $20 copay for an office visit. I pay basically nothing for prescriptions and procedures. The problem is that, as a healthy 30 year old, I'm basically paying $3,500 per year for nothing. I went and had blood work done recently, just because I felt like I needed to get some kind of value out of it

If you aren't making a pretty good amount of money, don't have kids. Problem solved.

I don't blame you. Our plan is like that too, no deductible or $250 or something. $10 office visits and 24 massage//chiro/acupuncture visits included. But at $5k a year I'm gonna feel like going to the doc more just to justify. Stupid shite.

We don't have kids, but I'm not going to tell someone they shouldn't because they can't afford $14k a year in insurance. Especially since this has just started to go nuts like this. Should we tell people already with kids that they should have predicted the future of a shitty President and shitty people like Reid and Pelosi passing a garbage health care law?

I wouldn't suggest killing off children, but not bringing more into a lower middle class world is responsible.
