That's what you said. I disagree wholeheartedly. Tough times call for tough decisions.

Wouldn't it be more responsible to quit raising the cost of living?

You missed the point,, I'm talking about the excessive $14k amount. These rates aren't normal and hopefully something is going to be done about it.

I am not a Trump voter/supporter (Hawaii is already in the bag for Hilldog) but I hope he wins over her. I don't know if he can really fix it too quickly but we know where we're going with the libtards.

Yeah you sound like any typical poli board poster that is caught up in that echo chamber that thinks Trump is winning by a land slide and pretend the other half of the country doesn't esxit. No need to try to hide it just because you are on the Money Board.

This is new news to you? Taxpaying citizens are paying huge increases in their health care premiums, and it's only going to get worse.

Hide what? I don't think Trump is winning, I just said I'd rather him over her since that's the 2 options. I already voted absentee and it was 3rd party. Do you have anything to add about insurance or you just came in to act like some elitist know it all?

Are you someone getting a free ride or are your rates going up crazy? Do you think healthy people's premiums should go up 50% or 100% or 250%?

Sarcasm? Ever heard of the tourism industry? There's probably some major hospitality companies here...

I've heard some of the horror stories over the last couple years. I knew our rates would go up as 2016 was more than 2015, but this is craziness.

Self employed here. Over $1700 a month for a family of three. My wife is 56 and I'm 55 and my son is 23. $5000 deductible.

I'm not sure why anyone is complaining about high deductibles when most are paying 2-3 times their deductible in premiums every year. $5000 deductible was high when people were paying $200 premiums, but now that everyone is paying $1000/ month for a family of 4 $10,000 deductible is actually percentage wise low.

It's absurd, and the fact that Trump didn't hammer this home more shows how poor his advisers were or how poor he listens. I voted trump because I hate the lib direction but trump really campaigned about as poorly as possible the last 4 months.

Holy crap.

~35% increase on my end. The deductible is around $5,500. Just terrible.

And only 1 insurer is left on the marketplace in this state.

My wife works at a large corp and we were paying $180/month this year for our medical and prescription coverage for a really good plan. Went to get us signed up for 2017 and it's now $440/month

WTF could possibly make that ok? I read some articles that said HMSA could go up 35% or 43% in some cases and the state insurance commish said as long as it isn't excessive it's ok. But to go up nearly 250%?

Because you get your benefits through work, you are dealing with both the decision to raise premium, and the company's reaction to this.

Case in point: My work. I cover just myself at work, wife covers her and kids at her work.

Premium for single coverage was $385/month last year. Company paid $350, I pay $35. Company pays $350 per cemployee per month regardless of what option you choose.

This year, premium went up $85 to $470/month (22% increase). However, the firm decided to not increase their contribution. So the entire $85 increase went to me. My share now is $120 a month.

So my premium cost went up just under 250%, even though the actual premium only went uo 22%.

Maybe something similar is happening. And in no way an I excusing a 22% premium increase, that's nuts.

Does your corporation self insure? Many large groups today self insure, which means the corporation bares all of the risk and the insurance company only services the claims and opens up its network of providers.

Do you recall what it was over the past few years? Just trying to get an idea of how much premiums are jumping. Has your deductible also gone higher and higher?

Because it's a combination? As you said, you're now paying $12k a year just for the gift of insurance but what if you actually have to use it? Now you're in for $17k that year. 2 people, now you're in for $22k. Etc.

Agreed. But these premiums are just coming to light in recent weeks, right? They should be jumping all over it though with ads and in his speeches. It's funny because I think from both sides people are saying you picked this election to put up this candidate? Hillary is un-trusted and not liked by the majority of people but Trump makes her look liked compared to him.

We changed plans about three years ago. Prior to that we were at $2100 for four people with a $3k deductible. The first year under this policy we were at $1400 for four people with a $5k deductible. My daughter dropped off and the cost continues to rise.
