Is she still hot? If so, then yes.

That reminds me of a consulting engagement I worked on. Guy in his young 40's had inherited his dad's company. His dad's admin assistant was a still relatively attractive 50ish year old lady. Dad was getting a little more from her than just admin assistance, and when son refused to carry on that tradition she sued them for sexual harassment. Luckily dad was divorced and single, and was able to prove the relationship was consensual so they didn't get taken to the cleaners though they did settle with her to get her out of their hair.

That's the tl;dr version. The affidavit on it was better than any book I've ever read.

Pics?

Criminal history is better than a criminal future. Just don't pay her too much then if you want to work out a bonus plan our know she's down.

ETA:. I linked this thread to the OT and it was whacked in seconds.

Just ask her, what is she willing to do to get this job?

She could have been convicted or pled guilty, received probation and once she was off of probation had the conviction removed from her record. In Louisiana I think it is Article 893 that allows this. That way it doesn't show up when applying for jobs but if she was ever to be arrested again law enforcement would see it.

We received the background check back and it actually came back 100% clean. We are using the basic background service so i'm wondering the validity of our background service company now.

Youre using a subpar background check company.

If she is just going to be a glorified secretary, give her a chance.

The first reply in this thread is awesome

The charge is prostitution. She said that about 7 years ago she needed the money and this was the only thing she could think of to generate quick money.

Hire her. No one is perfect. At least you know her past and she doesn't make any excuses for it.

Companies can still find these charges. It just costs more money.

I'm another one following the consensus and saying I would hire her if that was the only indiscretion. I would follow it up with a drug test, but that's the norm for my company. And, if you are concerned because you have never done drug screens in the past, keep in mind she will never know she was the first AND as the employer you have the ability to change the employee policies at anytime and can just start doing random screens.

FYI, only thing that would keep me from hiring her for that position is if she was a habitual offender, major drug charges (cocaine/heroine level), or embezzlement. Most other crimes would not have an impact on her ability to perform her job, even prostitution, violent crimes, DUI...

the first thing to consider is that she admitted it before you did the background check. The second thing is, it's a victemless crime. You should watch close how she handles money and don't let her handle more than you can afford to lose at one time.

The only reason I'm still alive is b/c prostitutes keep me happy. I just give them advice fyi

Possession of 10 bricks of cocaine is a non violent offense too, but i doubt you would hire someone with that kind of checkered past.

You're going to do what you're going to do. I've hired two with criminal backgrounds. One had a drinking issue and was in recovery. That fell apart. She is no longer with me, but she did eventually turn her life around. The second had (has) a possession of marijuana, and she has worked out very, very well. I had to get over some professional licensing issues in both cases.

You can glean a lot by social media profiles etc.

It's really a personal choice, but if you go ahead, you just need to pay close attention. Which you really should be doing anyway, so that shouldn't be a big deal.

I tend to fall on the side of everyone deserves a chance, and what they do with that chance is up to them. My responsibility is to help them succeed, and if it starts to fall apart, be aware and take action to protect myself, my business, my clients and my other employees.
