Have you ever received a slide deck from someone containing, for example, a screenshot of an Excel table instead of the person pasting it as a table in PowerPoint, and you find an error in one of the cells and can't edit the image? I just learned from a colleague today that you can actually right click on the image, click on ungroup and then the edit the text in the slide directly. This will save you from going back to the person who sent the file originally and asking them to make the edit. I thought it was pretty cool.

That makes zero sense.

What does this have to do with the Money Board?

I thought this board was filled with investment banking types who spend most of their time tweaking pitch books and would appreciate the tip.

When my friend asked me to right click on the image and click ungroup, that was my reaction too. I said that's an image...what do you mean ungroup? He said just do it. And voila, I was able to edit the numbers in a few cells even though the guy that sent the PowerPoint file to me has pasted the table from Excel as a screen shot. Try it.

I'm not putting something in a PowerPoint with an error in it and in not correcting someone else's for them.

Assuming this is true, this must be dependent on the image type you select when pasting it in PPT.

Hmm we use macros to bring in from excel, wonder if it works with those images.

This isn't really accurate. It depends on if the image is really a "screenshot" or if it copy/pasted as an image directly from excel to PPT.

If its really a screenshot that someone took with Snipping Tool or similar, then this is impossible. However, if you copy excel cells and paste as an image into PPT, it can be converted to an object and ungrouped for editing. However, the format will likely not be how you'd like it unless it is very simple. If you think someone may need to edit it, you should just paste it with formatting or embed it.
