What? Only thing you'd be missing is leather and heated seats from your list.

This Accord is fully loaded with low mileage and comes with a 100K mile warranty. I am pretty sure I could get them to come down on the price a little as well. LINK

They will maybe, and I mean MAYBE, come down a hundred or two just to do it. That price is very aggressive. Youd better jump on it.

He has a track record of being very legit on the MTB and has helped out numerous folks looking at Honda. I would take what he says as accurate and reliable.

I trust Coach as well.

ETA: Are Coach Guidry and CoachRobertson in cahoots or is this purely coincidental?

Coach Guidry sells Hondas in Lafayette area, Coach Robertson sells Toyotas at Price Leblanc in BR. Both are helpful to the board.

Appreciate the kind words.

Yes, two different "Coaches"

Its a nickname I received in high school...and it has stuck ever since.

I bought a Tundra from Coach Robertson yesterday. It was the easiest car buying experience I have had ever. He earned a client for the long haul.

I was a football coach while I attended LSU (cecp), so Coach name just stuck. Even though I have heard Coach Guidry'a name in the business ans have heard all positive things.

Lsufan1971-I appreciate your business, and stoked you enjoyed the entire process! Thanks for spreading the word about the experience :) Geaux Tigers & Toyota!

Not being an arse, but does Honda have any plans to make a real truck?

Depends on your definition of a real truck. The Ridgeline sells really well...especially in our larger cities. But if you're waiting for Honda to do something like the Titan, it wont happen. They just dont need to produce such a vehicle.

No one should ever produce something like the Titan

What type of cars do yall like. Based on how long yall seem to keep cars, I'd lean toward buying new so that you have a full warranty and can pick the exact features you want.

My understanding is that economy cars are often times better bought new than used, as the financing rates are better, full warranty and used car pricing on these models isn't always a huge savings.

It's luxury cars that make more sense to buy used because of the ridiculous depreciation.

The savings difference might not be huge, but it's still cheaper to buy a family sedan used. See the link I posted a couple of pages back if you want to see the math.

That math you posted ignores the higher value that the new car will have compared to one 3 years older. That alone likely takes care of the difference.

Update for all those who care: We have purchased a vehicle!

My wife and I bought a 2013 Volvo S60 T5 Platinum with just over 40,000 miles for $17,500. It still has 10,000 miles on the original manufacturer's warranty. We also purchased an additional MPP for 3 years/36K miles for $2,200 - putting our total cost at $19,700, or right under our budget. We have free regularly scheduled maintenance from the dealership for 5 years and a free tank of gas any time we stop in as well. This car provided every single thing on our wish list other than the backup camera, which would be a great feature but oh well.

I know a lot of people were discouraging me from purchasing a Volvo, but I can honestly say I feel like I got a deal. Plus, it is exactly the car my wife wanted. Happy wife happy life. You can't beat the safety features of a Volvo, and that is an important thing for us as we start our family as well.

Thank all of you guys for giving me advice, direction, and challenging me to seriously think about this decision. I'll be back for more advice next time

Congrats on the purchase! I loved our Volvo until it gave me some issues around 120-130k miles.

What dealership did you purchase it from?

Toyota of Dallas. They made it a really great experience all around.

I did push the salesman about what kind of reliability to expect in the long run and he gave me an honest-ish answer that he's seen a mixed bag after 100K miles. He didn't say it that way, but that's what he meant.

Most of the review sites rate the reliability on this model as a 3/5. I plan on maintaining it exactly as scheduled, so hopefully that will increase the longevity of the vehicle.

I damn near flew from Kansas to Louisiana to buy a vehicle from Coach Guidry. He helped coach me through the entire process as a first time car buyer and my dealer finally met me where Coach told me to be. It really was a huge help. Always feel like I owe him a thank you in these threads.
