Is there a trick to getting good concert tickets for face value? It seems like everytime I get some i have to get abused to get them. I get with sports there are season tickets but how do you get front row concert seats consistently or if not front row, good seats at face value.

wow ok so a bunch of you are tattling? Thanks FB, Jesus I said 1 thing about african americans 3 years ago and got banned, my god i tried to get back on and i wouldnt get approved until I bought a new condo and signed up there. I mean you wanna ban me again fine I really dont care, I survived 3 years without this site. I think its insane how strict everything is on here, I literally have done nothing bad but make 1 comment in august of 2013???? I apologize for saying something I shouldn't have said. People go to jail for shorter terms than I was banned and for violent crimes at that. Whatever if my punishment isnt over then its not over, Ill just leave if thats the case.
Its whatever to me, I know Ive seen some threads wondering where I was bc I did contribute some value in this forum as far as stocks go but if the admins cant get over my 1 comment from 3 years ago then I dont know what to say. Mea culpa, worse is said daily in the OT and poli boards but if I have to be made an example of then so be it.

I'm guessing the best thing to do is to learn about venues, the market, and try to forecast how fast a show will sell out?
Yes all the above. The key is avoiding venues, markets and seats that will lose money.

Do you do this? Any tips? How much do you make? How do you determine the best seats in venues you've never been to? How do you gauge how fast shows will sell out? Is there a lot of competition? Best way to resell the tickets?

you came back with basically the same name. Anybody would and will pick that up. easily. Just saying. It's not up to me. Unless you were not banned and the admins approved your name change. IDK what your situation was/is.

My best play on this was 2005 Sugar Bowl tickets. The Superdome was out of commission so the game was going to be played in Atlanta. I bought 3 tickets(I imagine buying even numbers is better) hoping LSU would win out to play in it, however, I knew that if that didn't happen, UGA was in line to play in the game.
I did alright. I imagine just being in tune with who is hot, and being on the ball helps a lot. If you think about it, most people don't get early face value tickets because they don't know immediately that they are going, waiting on friends to commit, etc.
If you are a ticket reseller you don't have to worry about that stuff and you buy the second they come up.

Sports seems like a different beast. You've got to deal with bigger venues and unknowns about who which team will be playing (in some circumstances). I'm sure there are many other factors I'm not thinking of

Ok so I come in with a different name and have the same occupation and invest in the same manner just to keep from getting banned again? My god I was a member from 2006 till 2013 and a few comments equal a death penalty? LOL if thats the case Im too old and make way too much money to play such childish games.

Been doing this on the side for 9 years and have been profitable every month. At the beginning I focused on presales/fan clubs/season tickets etc. but the ROI wasn't that great and I had to sit with large amounts of inventory for long periods of time that had no guarantee of making money (some with a decent chance of losing money).
The last 3-4 years I've focused on events that are already sold out by trying to get tickets either through drops from the venue or under-priced tickets on the secondary market. Since then I've averaged over $5K/month, better ROI and much better turnover as the buys are much closer to the event date.
I'm both a top seller and top buyer on Stubhub with volume incentives (3% cash back on the buys there and reduced commissions on the sales) so I sell most of my inventory there.

Ya, every thing after my first paragraph was non-event specific.

Well, that's nice.

Yeah. I should probably do this on a small level with a few SEC games I know will be hot tickets.

How much time do you put in per week? How do you find undervalued tickets on the secondary market? Focus only on your market?

Very interesting....anything else you can share?
ETA: I see DMB tickets for Wichita for sale now for $40 in the upper deck. Is there a good chance they go up closer to the 5/11 Show?

Because I only do this on the side, I only focus on a handful of markets that I've identified and monitor those off and on. If I were doing this full-time, I'd expand that process and be more vigilant. Yes, focus on a small number of markets, ideally local markets.

You can already get uppers for below face on Stubhub.

True, can you get an example of a potential buy out there now?
Obviously, there is some inherent risk, but I'd be interested in giving it a shot.

Would you be willing to make a short step by step guide to show how you evaluate tickets for a concert and a sporting event?

I'd rather not. I've already shared more than most re-sellers ever would. Hope you understand. Trial and error and start very small.

Glad to see you guys are all enamored with a POS scalper. They do nothing for anyone but themselves and take tickets out of fans hands that can't afford the greedy scalpers up charge. I hope more gets done to prevent it, it's a total scam. But hey, money.
