Architecture doesn't count, it's a 5 year program and I think they get a master's upon completion.

Not a master's but a damn hard-earned BS.

I don't know about that, but I think if you want to use it [undergrad] in the financial industry, it has to come from a top tier b-school. Just the way of the world.

winner winner chicken dinner. one of my best friends has an econ degree with a finance minor. he makes an absurd amount of money in private equity in NYC. an econ degree can definitely be useful under the right circumstances, but it's pretty risky IMO

Les Miles is doing pretty well for himself with his economics degree.

My undergrad was a BBA in Economics. Thought it was a nice global view of the business world...

Having said that, I would advise any BBA grad to get their MBA or if accounting an MS as soon as you can. Now's the time to do it while the job market is cold. Take out some loans and get 'er done. Aside from having those letters on your resume, it's a great place to network.

Oh, and get the grad degree somewhere other than your undergrad. And don't sweat it if you can't get into Wharton or somesuch. Getting it at La Tech or TX Tech is better than not having one at all.

Right now, even engineering and business kids are taking the MBA route.

Not in my experience. Most of my engineering peers went directly to work in an engineering related field or continued with their masters in engineering. The MBA'ers go after 4-5 years. But that was before the recession.

So do you guys think an MBA is necessary or would an MS in another field be just as beneficial, for example LINK

I'm starting to feel like I need to take the MBA direction myself. A bachelor of w/e doesn't seem to pull the attention I thought it would. GL

Right out of college, what is the minimum salary one would accept? If you had offers from a few places but did not think the salary was great would you take the job and keeping looking or just decline and keep looking.

depends on your field IMO. Don't forget to consider benefits and work schedule options.

I'm in the same predicament. Graduated in May with a BA in Economics and haven't had any solid job offers. This job market is BRUTAL. I'm thinking about just taking a job as a financial services representative somewhere...
